I longed for a baby but didn?t want to wait for Mr Right ...

    so I googled sperm donor

"So I put 'free sperm donation' into Google and was amazed when all these websites popped up.

i bet hmmmm brb gunna put "free fanny fat" into google, thats sexual discrimination, no free fanny fat

Online family ... Ann and daughter Holly

SINGLE mum Ann Spalding was desperate for a second child so she advertised online for a dad.

Then after meeting and choosing a suitable candidate, she tried impregnating herself with his sperm.

Her first attempt at pregnancy failed, so she met up with him again at a hotel and this time, to give herself the best chance of conceiving, they slept together.

Today Ann is mum to one-year-old Holly and although she hasn't seen her daughter's dad since that night, she has no regrets.

She says: "Some people might not agree about the way Holly was conceived, but I didn't want a relationship.

"I simply wanted a sperm donor to give me a wonderful little sibling for my elder daughter, Keira.

"And whereas normally women never get to meet their sperm donor, this way I could choose what mine looked like and ensure for myself he was OK."

In fact, former shop assistant Ann, 27, from Gateshead, Tyne and Wear, has since been sterilised because she now feels her family is complete.

Her journey to conceive a second child began when Keira was 18 months old.

She says: "I split with her dad when I was just two months pregnant with her we were just not suited.

"But as Keira grew older, I longed for another baby.

"It was frustrating as I wasn't in a relationship. And I didn't know when, if ever, I would meet Mr Right.

"But I didn't want a big gap between my children. I wanted them to grow up together and for me to be able to return to work for good once the youngest was at nursery.

"It's better to become a mum when you're younger.

I didn't want to be pregnant with a second child in my thirties, or to find out I'd left it too late to conceive again in my forties."

Ann considered sperm donation through a private clinic but says: "At around ?3,000 a go it was far too expensive.

"So I put 'free sperm donation' into Google and was amazed when all these websites popped up.

"They were full of men advertising to donate their sperm and couples advertising for a donor.

i joined one and put on my own free advert.

"I didn't use a photo, I just said I was a single woman looking for a sperm donor."

Within a few days Ann received five replies. She discounted two straight away and says: "They just talked about having sex rather than donating their sperm, so I didn't reply to them."

She emailed the remaining three and they each sent her photos of themselves.

She was immediately drawn to one Jason, a computer engineer in his thirties.

Net gain ... Ann found nine-month-old Holly's dad online

She says: "He seemed the most polite and was the best looking, with olive skin, like my first daughter.

Ideally I wanted my children to have the same colouring.

"He said he had donated his sperm before. I didn't ask him how many times or if he was married or single, but he told me he donated simply because he wanted to help women have babies."

Ann bought a kit from the chemist's to indicate when she was due to ovulate and says: "When it showed I was fertile, we arranged to meet in a hotel. As soon as we met I liked him.

"He showed me a document from an STD clinic proving he'd been tested for sexually transmitted diseases and was clear.

He went up to the room and filled a pot with sperm.

"I then went up, he handed it to me and after he'd gone, I artificially inseminated myself using a syringe I'd bought at th chemist's. It might sound clinical but then it was."

Afterwards Ann returned to the hotel lobby and paid Jason his travel expenses ?30 and he left.

But she didn't get pregnant that month and says: "It was so disappointing. I emailed Jason to tell him and we decided to have another attempt.

"So the following month, when I was again fertile, he booked another hotel room and we had another go with artificial insemination.

"But after a chat we decided he would stay overnight at the hotel and I would return the next morning.

"We decided that attempt would be natural insemination.

I can understand some people might be horrified but it was a mutual decision to have sex and while I didn't fancy him, the thought of sleeping with him wasn't too bad.

"And I felt I had a far better chance of conceiving by doing it the natural way. I didn't want to go through the same thing for months on end. I just wanted to get pregnant."

The next day Ann returned and the couple had sex.

She says: "There wasn't any emotion or fuss. We just got on with it and afterwards we went our separate ways."

Two weeks later she was rewarded with a positive pregnancy test and says: "I was just so happy it had worked.

"I don't know if it was having sex naturally that made all the difference but I do think it probably helped."

She emailed Jason to tell him the good news, he wished her good luck and she promised to tell him when she gave birth.

She says: "I'd already told my parents and a couple of close friends that I was going through a website to have a baby.

    Gorgeous

"My parents were mostly worried it was dangerous and warned me to be careful.

"But they knew whatever they said, I wouldn't change my mind as I wanted a baby so badly."

After a trouble-free pregnancy, Ann, who was accompanied by her sister during the birth, finally delivered 6lb 5oz Holly by Caesarean section.

She says: "I took one look at her and instantly bonded.

She is a gorgeous little girl and I immediately knew I'd done the right thing to have her."

Although Ann had had no contact with Jason throughout the pregnancy she rang him as she had promised.

She says: "I wanted him to sign a contract to say he had no rights over Holly.

"I also didn't expect or want him to pay maintenance. But his emails just bounced back and his phone was dead, so he has no idea I had Holly."

Ann denies she was irresponsible by choosing to have a baby without a dad and says: "I was quite honest with Jason. It isn't as if I lied to anyone.

"And I think it's preferable to going to a clinic where ultimately you know nothing about the dad of your baby. At least this way I chose Holly's dad."

Ann, who lives in a council house and claims benefits, hopes to return to work within the next two years when Holly is at nursery.

But she says: "At the moment I'm just enjoying being a mum. And while what I've done might not be right for everyone, I only have to look at Holly to know I have no regrets."

Go back in time a couple of years.... The government has just announced it's plans to hold everybody's DNA on a national database.

My first thought was..... How long will it be before they use that database to track down missing fathers?

All those people who had one night stands when they were pi**ed..... Then there's those that 'donated' baby gravy who don't have a copy of the contract to prove they didn't have physical intercourse.

        Hell, I was worried......

If you edit the drivell, it makes better reading, not like that other thread, 250,000 kids by 250,000 men or something.

least she can't breed again, that's a bonus at least.

Probable she has heard that Duncan Smith is talking about giving mothers a bigger pension. It seems the dossers will be looked after from cradle to the grave. Makes me smile when they say they don't want a man, because they want to be independent, while the taxpayer pays for everything.
