Italy 1990 was about the last one i enjoyed euro 96 wasnt to bad either even 98 wasnt that bad the rest like fa cup finals you dont remember unless your team played

i used to know every winner from war to about 96 i couldnt even tell you who won it last year without checking nowadays

we are too spoilt with it now we are saturated with football to the point it is disinteresting unless its your own team

go back to 80's and early nineties i watched everything and every game that was on from football focus to saint and greavsie even the italian 5hite when that started and i lookedd forward to internationals

fa cup final was a massive event even if your team were not playing it was still a full afternoon on tv world cup was a huge event also

they are all not so appealing now i am at the point where i cant stand the break from club football for internationals sad in a way but i think its how football has got these days saturated by TV coverage which allows you to pick and choose every game to the point you dont even need to buy a ticket to watch every game for your club live

i havent been to a game since 2009 and tbh i wont be going in the near future it costs too much to take me and the kids its much cheaper to just use a swing of the dish

Obviously a bitter fan from the lower leagues.. Nevermind, i hear the Johnstone's Paint Trophy is a cracker..

To be fair the last Euro championships in 2008 were excellent, there were some cracking games, in general it seems to be a far better tournament, probably because the Euros have a better footballing pedigree than the World cups.

The same could be said about the European Cup of old and the new format that is the Champions league.
Did a game in the European Cup in the 70's, lets say Liverpool v Crusaders have the same appeal as a game between Chelsea v Barca??... maybe it did!!
It certainly had more appeal to Crusaders who now haven't a hope in hell of getting through to the Champions league proper.
Personally i prefer the new Competition by far, no doubt because of Utd's involvement in it every year, but at the same time i can understand perfectly how others can be nostalgic and prefer the old Competition.

Champion league football isn't fair between the leagues of Europe. Barca and Real Madrid can put B-teams on the pitch and still qualify for a spot. The teams who win their respected leagues in Russia,Portugal and Holland wouldn't be no better than 3rd place in England,Germany and Italy. The reason is money. Years ago players stayed in their country's and played football in their country's league so it made the competition some what equal. Now no matter what the champion league will always won by a team from Spain,England,Germany and Italy. No matter what they do nothing will be perfect but they could atleast cut the number of games played

Porto won it with mourinho in 2004 it can be done

im sure paul scholes had a perfectly good goal dissalowed though otherwise it may have been different not that im bitter though

i agree thought it is largely won by the big 4 nations of football tbh though apart from benfica in the early days and a decent ajax side it has largely been won by the same 4 nations throughout its time

Jeez man your either very young or losing your memory.
Ajax also did it in 1995....
So did Marseille in 1993 the first club to win it under the present format...

Alot of money in Russia at the moment so it may not be too long before it starts going there.
It should only be champions of each league and there biggest cup be it the FA or whatever may help a few of the smaller leauges/countries out and it'll make the domestic leagues a lot more interesting rather than teams being happy with 4th.

That scenario could, and probably would, be just a total mishmash of Clubs contesting the Competition.
Its quite possible a team would win their domestic cup trophy whilst getting relegated....
Depending on which Country, The Champions league is for the top 2 to 4 Clubs in their respective leagues to compete for the title of Champions of Europe.
Not only that, but Clubs representing their respective Countries have to meet certain criteria regarding Stadia and infrastructure.
Would all Clubs (if they won the fa cup) be able to meet all of these standards??
The Champions League is UEFA's golden goose, and they wouldn't dream of scrapping it and replacing it with some outdated Competition that has domestic Cup winners involved in it...

I wish they would just referee the games better. The Barca-Arsenal game was a disgrace this year.
