How did gareth bale win player of the year he had a good game against Inter from what i can remember and has been annonymous since

his best displays were all in the CL early in the season he might as wll have went on holiday from october onwards and i didnt even realise that playing the odd good game in the CL counted for player of the year i thought it was domestic football that counted as it is polled by the members of the english fa

surely if bale was to be recognised it should be in the europen footballing honours

spurs own fans have said modric has been there best player this season

i understand there has not really been a stand out player but surely there was better than bale

1 ASSIST in the prem this season 1 ~~~~in ASSIST and 7 goals is hardly a good return wigans keeper el habsi has 1 assist also

van de vart has been better for spurs and tevez has had a better season as has nani who has been much improved this season and has more assists than any other player with around 18 just in the PL, even berbatov deserves to be ahead of bale as the PL leading scorer and has more assists

nani 9 goals 18 assists in PL

i cant see why apart from inter milan in europe bale was runaway leader in this list for contribution in our domestic league

bale stands next to other starlets taylor-fletcher ,leon osman and our own darren fletcher with his contibution in the PL this season

i cant see why he even gets close tbh ethrington,charlie adam scott parker,Peter Odemwingie have all had better seasons IMO

I can't understand it either. Two excellent games against Maicon and that`s it. By the way I think it is early to pick a player of the season cause we have more than a month left with United in the best situation to win the EPL and playing semi finale of CL, all thanks to Nani, Berba and I have to mention Vidic. United recieved only three goals this season in CL.

My vote goes for Nani or Vidic.

We all know that defenders are less appreciated than the midfielders and attackers but defense is also part of the team. Although I admire Bale it is not fair him to win this prize.

One more logic thing that I can't understand? Bale is chosen to be the best player in EPL this season. He was also in the shortlist for the best youth player in EPL but that reward goes to Wishere from Arsenal. So Bale is the "best" player this season in EPL but not better than Wilshere or Wilhere is not the best player this season despite he is better than Bale in youngsters

Could be to do with attitude ... he doesn't run 40 yards just to hack down the player who got the ball off him (Rooney) ...
He doesn't fly into other players with career ending tackles (Scholes) ...
He doesn't constantly gesture the booking or sending off of players by waving an imaginary card at every foul (Nani)

This is why the PFA voting should be at the end of the season and not in January.. Football players are thick as ~~~~ if they all voted Bale as the best off the back of the Inter v Spurs Champions League game

it does make you wonder how bale could win it. he scores a hat-trick in milan after inter were leading 4-0 and scores a volley against stoke i think. but apart from that he's done nothing. i think bale would struggle passing water. the pfa is a joke on this showing

Nani is just a crybaby. he should get the Kleenex award. I think no one really stood out this year for any team. I think they should of gave it Tevez cause ManC would be nowhere with out him.

yes he has been superb and has also brought on smalling a ton

but as ever its normally the attackers who get most plaudits

nani has probably been our best player he has breated more than any other player this season and also weighed in with 10 goals

apart from tevez no body else can match him or gets close tbh as said earlier in thread he has almost kept city going on his own

i cant help thinking though if hernandez wasnt mainly a sub for the best part of the season he may have walked it

you are right on both counts he does roll around like a fan*y a lot which at times does work against him because he doesnt get a at times off referees because of who he is and his reputation as a baby

he is not as bad as he was though and much like drogba who used to do the same thing every game he is slowly learning to eradicate it and it does him no favours

still doesnt change the fact though he has been better than bale

partly agree but roy keane and wayne rooney have both won it as did cantona none of them were know for their sporting behaviour
