i have had this idea in the past and me and my bro once wrote to the fa on how we think it could be implemented.
1: get rid of the league cup or replace the prem teams with conference teams.
2: add another 4 teams promoted from the championship and split the prem into 2 leagues of 12 teams. each team playing 22 games in their respective leagues
3: the top 4 teams from each league go into 4 playoff games
the 4 winning teams from the first round are your champ league teams. out of the losing teams, the 2 with the highest gd go into uefa cup.
4: the 4 champ league teams then play 2 semis and a final match to decide winner.
    5. the maximum amount of prem games a team would have to play is 25 instead of the current 38 + league cup games
6: not only would this allow for a winter break, but would also highten the exitement for fans as we all know anything can happen in a knockout situation.
plus i would add a bonus point scheme for a gd of 4 or more. ie a team wins 4-0, 5-1 etc then instead of 3 points, they would get 4. this would encourage attacking football and hopefully reduce the number of 0-0 bore draws

        no no no no

i hate having no prem even for a week when international breaks are on i hate the summer when no football on dont ruin winter too

footballers should never be able to rest its a national institution i like a bet on footy i like watching footy and i like the crack it brings throughout the season a winter break would be mad

although i think it will happen one day and the prem may be reduced in size i dont agree with all that play offs for winners ect,it means a team may win the league by 20 points and not win the league cos of a playoff game this is not right we already have cup games the winner should be the most consistent team over a season not the best in a cup competition

The whole idea of a League is that it is just that, and not a cup like you have described above.

There is no need for a winter break anyways, and as said above i hate the summer break, never mind having a winter one too

tbh m8 the epl wouldnt be the league it is without sky cash back in the 80's and such there were no big foreign superstars over here cos we couldnt afford em they went to italy or spain but from the 90's onwards we could attract top players taking this league from strenghth to strenghth

If there was a winter break you could bet your sweet arse there would be no break from football. The greedy clubs would all be away for a 2-3 weeks or whatever the duration of the break is . All over the world making lots of money, then come home and start complaining about fixture congestion and injuries.

                      The Hillsborough Independent Panel. 12/09/12

Today's report is black and white. The Liverpool fans were not the cause of the disaster.
The panel has quite simply found 'no evidence' in support of allegations of 'exceptional levels of drunkenness, ticketlessness or violence among Liverpool fans' and 'no evidence that fans had conspired to arrive late at the stadium' and 'no evidence that they stole from the dead and dying'.

yes the league did go from strength too strength but the tv money helped these teams push to get the better players!
