i think it will cause uproar,he might as well name one of the stands the mike ashley stand (change it from the milburn stand) he's so out of touch with the fans its untrue,it will be the lead item on our local news regardless of any murders/rapes/job losses, ashley must think because the team is doing well AT THE MOMENT he can get away with it maybe he should have considered re-naming it roker park that would also go down well with the locals.

Saw this on the six oclock news tonight i think its disgusting but it sums up the state of british football- all about the money. The fans are just a name and a number now.
They can call it whatever they want but it will always be saint jameses park to the fans.

its st. james park always has been, always will be to me aswell

newcastle council has stated they will not change roads or streets surrounding the stadium and are disgusted at this also

fans dont like mike ashley much but the teal will always have the fans behind them

p.s he offered danny guthrie a new contract on condition he change his name to donnay guthrie

Feel sorry for the Newcastle fans, who will always know it as St James Park, but the sheer embarressment of a) having it renamed and b) having it renamed as that!

If you're going to do it make it a Samsung Stadium or a Apple Arena, not the bloody Sports Direct.com.uk.whatever!

Newcastle are a big club that has just acted as a pretty small one..

Money money and money. Operating costs of a football club is alot. Players salary's are high when you have to compete all over the world for talent. I still don't like when they start taking tradition out of the game.
