        I'm a city fan and i have to hold my hands up and say, the greatest player in the Premier League was Peter Schmeikel with out him being at man utd for 8/9 years they would not have dominated the league and won all there trophies (15 in all)

        * Premier League: 1992-93, 1993-94, 1995-96, 1996–97, 1998-99
        * FA Cup: 1994, 1996, 1999
        * FA Charity Shield: 1993, 1994, 1996, 1997
        * Football League Cup: 1992
        * European Super Cup: 1991
        * UEFA Champions League: 1998-99

        Makes me sick :P

            Your probably overlooking someone when you say maybe the only player in it for the love of the game rather than money. Jamie Crragher ring any bells m8.

            THE TRUTH
            The Hillsborough Independent Panel. 12/09/12

            Today's report is black and white.The Liverpool fans were not the cause of the disaster.
            The panel has quite simply found 'no evidence' in support of allegations of 'exceptional levels of drunkenness, ticketlessness or violence among Liverpool fans' and 'no evidence that fans had conspired to arrive late at the stadium' and 'no evidence that they stole from the dead and dying'.

                Well i may not be as knowledgable about the past players as i am a few years younger then yous..but only 2main players stick out..you probably think im gonna say henry as im a arsenal fan but no..dennis bergkamp and gianfranco Zola..they were amazing in the few years i watched them..
                For me bergkamp is forever arsenal and g hope to see him in the management 1day..
                Another name which sticks in my head for some comical reasons is di-canio..loved his bicycle kick goal and his chipped penalties...but especially his hair

                  For me the best player ever in the premiership goes to either Dennis Bergkamp or Thierry Henry....both had sublime skill and godly first touch with a nack for the unbelievable.....but ultimately Henry just about shades it due to his goal scoring consistency and pace. There was a time when Thierry Henry was undoubtedly the best striker in the world in that Arsenal side and lord knows he used to frighten the life out of all defenders in the premiership. The guy had the lot.

                    epl best 11 - this is what I think will make the best team and not necessarily the best players, I have given explanations for my choices.

                    GK. Schmeichel - no explantion needed!

                    RB. Denis Irwin - can't think of any right backs good enough to desrve to be called "the best" but since I have to I go for Denis Irwin, but I think Rafael DaSilva will be in the future. He will be the Premier Leagues first "great" right back

                    LB. Ashley Cole - only left back who seems to consistently have the measure of Ronaldo

                    CBs. Rio Ferdinand & Nemanja Vidic. I think John Terry is a better defender than Ferdinand, but it's useful to a defenders that can also play well, which gives Ferdinand the edge. This leaves also leaves a space for a solid-as-a-rock type defender, and I think Vidic and Terry both fit this category but Vidic is better, Terry a close second, and Jaap Stam third.

                    RW. Cristiano Ronaldo - most skilful player since Maradona and has scored 15 goals so far in a "bad" season, a phenomenal amount for any other winger in a good season and still better than most good strikers

                    LW. Ryan Giggs - consistently good for a long time

                    CMs. Paul Scholes & Patrick Vieira - Scholes is the by far the best midfielder the epl has ever seen and as an attacking player needs a defensively minded partner. Gerrard is the second best after Scholes, but Scholes is head and shoulders above. A Gerrard Scholes partnership would not be strong enough defensively and Scholes is simply too good to be left out. Vieira is a strong, good-at-tackling defensive midfielder. Keane is stronger and more dependable but Vieira isn't far behind but can do a much better job going forward which gives him the edge

                    CFs Thierry Henry & Gianfranco Zola - Henry had the skill and pace to get past anyone. He is a great goalscorer, just like van Nistelrooy, but brings so much more to the team, which is why I had to leave the van man out. Being a united fan I found it hard to leave out Cantona, but I honestly think Zola was better.

                          since I even said that in my post then yes. The reason so many united players are in there is because they are usually the best. They didn't win so many premier league titles by having average players

                                i dont think you are too far away m8 but i would have to stick the king eric in and have keane ahead of viera anytime remember the confrontation in the tunnel at highbury viera 5hited himself and went missing in the game keane won the battle hands down as for better going forward i disagree a million percent keane was great at going forward in his early days and much much better than viera his goal tally only dwindled in the last few year because of injury toll and scholes more advanced roll

                                roy keane bagged over 50 goals for united viera got around 35 for arsenal so kind of disproves your theory you must be a bit younger than me because roy keane was an excellent going forward for both for forest and united

                                just one more thing dennis irwin spent most of his united career at left back but i would give him the nod in the best epl team ever because of his ability to play on either side which cole and neville cant and patrice evra is much better than ashley cole at left back
