what a waste.. Dossena has hardly been at Anfield.. some players need a season to adjust.. he's not Italy's first choice left back for no reason.. i'd give him until at least January to settle.. If the Italian clubs are lining up to buy him then says something to me

Kop saved by ?340m lifeline
GEORGE GILLETT has pulled off a stunning deal in America to rescue Liverpool from a financial nightmare.
Reds owner Gillett and partner Tom Hicks have been struggling to meet payments on a ?350million debt incurred as part of their 2007 Anfield takeover.
But Gillett is selling ice hockey giants Montreal Canadiens to the brewers Molson for ?340m - almost exactly double the price he paid them for an 80 per cent share in 2001.
News of his ?178m profit comes just two weeks after Liverpool's accountants warned of "significant doubt" over repayments due on July 24 and defender Jamie Carragher said he feared key players could be sold.
The sale should be finalised once NHL chiefs give it the all-clear. Canadiens spokesman Donald Beauchamp said: "We would expect the deal to go through in a month or two."
Gillett was highly regarded in Montreal as he helped out with cash to sign top players. But he has not made quite the same impression in England.
Liverpool fans have become frustrated at his squabbling with partner Hicks. The pair took out a ?350m loan when they bought the club in 2007 and have made no progress with a new stadium.
Accounts show Kop Holdings, the parent company of the club, lost ?42.6m in the year up to August 2008. Interest payments on loans accounted for ?36.5m.
There could be further good news for the Reds now though as Hicks is hoping to sell off his Texas Rangers baseball team and make a ?97m profit.Comment

Johnson bags ?21m Kop jackpot
LIVERPOOL have bust the bank to make Glen Johnson one of the highest-paid defenders in the Premier League.
Johnson hit the jackpot in his ?18.5million move from Portsmouth yesterday with a ?100,000-a-week, four-year deal worth a whopping ?21m.
The England full-back, 24, had given the thumbs up to Liverpool last Thursday - as revealed in SunSport - but Manchester City made a late attempt to hijack the switch.
And that led to Johnson striking it rich. Kop boss Rafa Benitez had expected to get his man on far lower wages, yet when City entered the bidding it led to a hasty rethink on his personal terms.
Mark Hughes' men were prepared to pay ?80,000 a week and Benitez had to trump that figure to complete his first major transfer of the summer.
Chelsea had also been in the hunt for the defender, who had four years at Stamford Bridge, but he eventually plumped for Merseyside ahead of west London.
Liverpool can wipe an immediate ?7m from the fee - Pompey still owe that amount from signing Peter Crouch last year.
Johnson's capture is a huge coup for Benitez. He not only saw off City and Chelsea but also got the nod to compete for big-name players despite the club's financial plight.
Yet he will still have to off-load some stars to make further top-class signings. Javier Mascherano, Xabi Alonso, Alvaro Arbeloa and Andrea Dossena are all potential high-profile departures.
Benitez has been watching Johnson for the past six months and made initial tentative inquiries in the January window.
Pompey thought they had won the battle to keep him when he signed a new four-year deal. But he always insisted he wanted to prove himself at the highest level again, after only 41 appearances in his Chelsea career.
Johnson has also just enjoyed his most impressive season, capped by a star man role in the World Cup drubbing of Andorra.Comment
