If Rangers put anyone to the sword it will be a first as they've never played any teams before. They're the newest club in Scotland with no wins/loses or history.Leave a comment:

Since when did you speak for the whole of Scotland ? Rangers will be back fighting for the top honours in Scottish football whether it's 1 year or 3 years or however long it takes and we will be putting teams in the spl to the sword once again as we usually did . We are RANGERS - WE ARE THE PEOPLE !Leave a comment:

I assume that if the boot was on the other foot scotland would not want celtic as well ,or any other team that has the misfortune to go tit@ up in the same circumstances that Rangers went tit@ up and then try and come back as a newco ?
And if scotland don't want Rangers why is there all the furore about them then ? if that was the case they would just say ~~~~ off to them even coming back in the 3rd division.
One good thing that has come of this it looks like the chairmen are listening to the fans so lets hope it continues and the fans now have a major say what goes on at there clubs somehow though i rather think this is a one off.
Another thing surely more fans will start going to the games to offset the damage of not having Rangers money coming in through attendences and sponsorships etc etc etc after all the fans must now step up and play since they have so vociferously made there feelings known to scottish football.

When the dust settles Scottish Football will not be dead. What we will have is teams that play within their financial abilities. Sure a few names will go to the wall but we'll still have youngster wanting to play football.
No Scottish team will be able to pay their directors the masive dividends they used to and even the likes of Celtic will struggle to buy in foreign players to improve their team. That and any decent player worth their salt won't want to play in a semi professional set up.
Get football back to what it should be about. Local lads playing for local teams and supported by people from their area. No more plastic supporters that only support a team due to having been brain washed into it by religion, or so they can in thier own little minds think by supporting a better team it somehow makes them a better person. Trust me it just makes them look like a sad loser.
Bring football back to the people and away from a business.Leave a comment:

Well Scotland most certainly don't want RangersScottish football is in a right mess financially. Rangers are in big trouble and so are loads of other clubs in scotland hearts included. There is no money anymore. Gloating celtic fans should remeber that it can only lead to oblivion for everyone. England dont want or need the old firm.Leave a comment:

The deal would be renegotiated without Rangers. It would be worth less, sure, but the current figures clubs get aren't exactly eye watering. Celtic would be hit hardest, but they would manage the shortfall no problem.Sky appear to disagree with some of you guys,
The Scottish Premier League has agreed a television deal with Sky Sports and ESPN which will run until the end of the 2016-17 season. They will pay a combined ?80m to continue to screen 30 live SPL matches each per season. The figure represents an increase of ?3m a year on the existing broadcast agreement due to end in 2014.
Central to the deal is the continuation of four Old Firm matches each season. This removes the possibility of the meaningful expansion of the 12-team SPL for which supporters have campaigned.
It's lazy drivel saying it would die without them - especially as this comes from people who say its dead already.Leave a comment:

Spot on pal. Scottish Football and Scottish Society would not let the glorious glasgow rrrrrrrrangerrrrs, the establishment's and ra peepals team go under.
Scottish football has been poor for a few years now and will continue to be poor what ever happens to rangers.
You're spot on with attendences... there is hardly ever a sell out at the other clubs when the OF play there. There isn't many sell outs at Celtic Park or Ibrox as well, but I've seen plenty of empty seats in the EPL this season, so it's not all due to the product on offer.Leave a comment:

All I've ever heard is Scottish Football is gubbed even with Rangers just now. Teams don't play in front of full houses now when us or Rangers come to town (anyone had a look at Rugby Park or Easter Road when we play them?). The money that comes into Scotland from Tv deals is poor and the majority goes to Celtic and Rangers anyway. It'll remain poor, but it'll only be one team getting the lions share now, other teams will get a bigger share. Rangers Tax Case blog outlines the drop in revenue for other teams. There will be a hit, bit it's not as if there is massive amounts flooding in as it stands.
Sky or ESPN will still buy rights to Scottish games, simply because thousands and thousands of Celtic and other SPL fans will still watch the games and buy sky subscriptions because of it (plenty if people would simply stop subscribing to Sky Sports - the premiership isn't as appealing as some think).
Scottish Football would survive, readmitting a team that has quite simply employed illegal financial practices to gain an unfair advantage over every other club in the league is morally wrong. What do you suggest should happen to them? They cheated. I've heard plenty of sneering about the Italian game on the past, but look what they did to Fiorentina.
It's all a moot point anyway, as quite simply if Rangers are liquidated, a newly formed team will be ushered back in to the SPL. No way will Scotland let anything else happenLeave a comment:

Cable its not just about needing each other to survive- Scottish football needs the old firm(both sides). All the other teams in scotland only play to half full stadiums until the firm come to town and then they sell out. The influx of a couple of thousand fans makes a major difference to the local economies of these towns. And what about sponsership and tv money do you think anybody will fund scottish football and will sky be interested in networking the celtic aberdeen game as the biggie instead of the old firm. We better all pray cos if rangers go under scottish football is doomed.Leave a comment:
