Lewis stunned by comeback; debut wins for Painter and Hamilton
Phil Taylor came from 5-0 down to earn a 7-7 draw with world champion Adrian Lewis on the opening night of the McCoy's Premier League in Manchester.
Lewis, who teamed up with his Stoke rival to win the World Cup for England last Sunday, was in dominant form during the early stages.
He broke Taylor's throw in the second leg with a 138 checkout and had a 100 per cent record on his doubles as he raced into a 5-0 lead.
Taylor, who had not even had a dart at a double to this point, got off the mark in the sixth leg.
After Lewis won the next for 6-1, it was role reversal as Taylor took five legs in a row to level at 6-6.
But Lewis responded to hit double 10 in the next to edge 7-6 in front but Taylor - who finished with a three-dart average of 112.7 - was able to salvage a draw, hitting double 16 at the third attempt.
This is why taylor will always be the name remembered most !!
