    Taylor comeback earns draw

Lewis stunned by comeback; debut wins for Painter and Hamilton

Phil Taylor came from 5-0 down to earn a 7-7 draw with world champion Adrian Lewis on the opening night of the McCoy's Premier League in Manchester.

Lewis, who teamed up with his Stoke rival to win the World Cup for England last Sunday, was in dominant form during the early stages.

He broke Taylor's throw in the second leg with a 138 checkout and had a 100 per cent record on his doubles as he raced into a 5-0 lead.

Taylor, who had not even had a dart at a double to this point, got off the mark in the sixth leg.

After Lewis won the next for 6-1, it was role reversal as Taylor took five legs in a row to level at 6-6.

But Lewis responded to hit double 10 in the next to edge 7-6 in front but Taylor - who finished with a three-dart average of 112.7 - was able to salvage a draw, hitting double 16 at the third attempt.

This is why taylor will always be the name remembered most !!

Taylors Taylor nothing will suprise you with what hes achieved hes the only one who could do that. Give him a 10 leg head start he will come back at you mans a legend, the amount of time n effort he puts in his own game is really remarkable even now with all that hes won.

Best player ever no one will be that good or work as hard as Phil. Im a Barney fan by the way, but have alot of respect for Phil.

gary anderson and james wade have the ability but dont seem to have the desire or the fight both need to get their heads sorted. i dont think painter is as good as several players that missed out on a wildcard but he did hit a few good finishes tonight, the 2 draws were 2 really good games and i hate the way the crowd boo and try and put players off going for the doubles.

who would you guys class as the best ever sportsman?

not footballers, as its a team game, im talking about sports were it is just one guy against his opponent

            darts, snooker, tennis etc etc

any sport, who would you go for?

for me its phil taylor, never seen anything like it in my life. for consistancy and performing under pressure...he is unreal.

70 major titles, that is staggering

The thing is Darts has always been considered as a pub game people still dnt see it as a sport. However in recent years its becoming huge which is good for all concerned the PDC is going the right way, the BDO is struggling to keep its best players, its only Wolfie thats keeping it going. If he decided to join the PDC which he should but doesn't coz he doesn't like Taylor apparantly then the rest in the BDO would follow.

I would prefere it as one like it used to be.

Regarding Phil n the Sports Personality i think his chance came n went couple of years ago when he came 2nd cnt see him getting it now, but he does deserve it.

i think if there was never a split taylor would not have won 15 titles and van barneveld would not have won 5 but undoubtedly taylor is the best ever.

I use to think the same, but having watched Taylor over the years and how hard he works behind the scenes, theres no one in the game that works that hard. Darts is in his blood, he never settles for anything less then winning, even if the BDO had remained as 1 i beleive he would have won as many he has today if not more.

in the early years of the pdc there was a lot of easy games in the early rounds with the likes of stoddard, raw, manning and many others and 1 year a canadian women played plus for years he avoided van barneveld, les wallace, richie burnett at their peak neither championship has ever had the best 64 players in the world due to the split and there is still a handfull of plyers with the bdo that could make it in the pdc but i dont think ted hankey will make much of an impression.
