Its a shame because I thought we would get maybe two more big fights out of him before he goes, But I suppose its got to the stage he has nothing more to prove, he has done it all, most memorable night for me was the Chris Eubank fight, 12 rounds of real fighting, its a pity Nigel Ben & Steve Collins never got to fight Calzaghe, but I think both knew Calzaghe was a world beater even back in those days with both deciding to Retire instead of fighting him.

The man is a legend imo. Going out unbeaten a true sign of greatness.

A class boxer indeed. And as lfc4life says, i hope he does'nt spoil it all by trying again in a couple of years and taking a beating.
I refuse to answer that question on the grounds that I do not know the answer.

Loved watching Calzaghe fights. Imagine how good he would have been with good hands and a proper knockout punch.Enjoy your retirement Champ.

Yes he should. But joe never had a knockout punch because his work rate won his matches for him!!!

got to be the greatest brit boxer of all time would of liked to see him beat marciano's record of 49/0 though before he retired

just hope he sticks to it though and doesnt feel the need in a few year to have a stab at the next big thing to call him out

Well carl froch has tried to get him for a fight for the last 12 months!
And it has not worked. I saw an interview of him saying he was really proud of his record and so he should be

And his record says it all 49 and 0 !!!
                      Says it ALL
