Weird how they sack a manager for winning a trophy and getting into another final i dont see him doing any better than Dalglish imho with the current crop of players.

I see what you are saying but look what he has done with a weak team, I really like his style i think he could do something with the players!! also i think he will get rid of some dead wood!! I really didn't want him to go there.... I think it may take a season, I hope i am wrong.

Im keeping an open mind, he wasn't my first choice of manager i wanted but im more optimistic then i was when we got Roy.

His last team Swansea played a good eyecatching style of football which was pleasing to see from a side who just got promoted.

He's a young up and coming manager i don't think Martinez did anything wrong either both have similarities but i guess FSG wanted Rodgers the guy who took himself out of the runnning when FSG started to look over Martinez.

When i read somewhere that some Liverpool exec was saying that they expect minimum 4th in the League from there next manager this started alarm bells ringing for me.

Hopefully he gets a fair crack of the whip and is given some time to stamp his authority on the team.

Just seen Whelans comments about the way FSG want to set it up e.g Manager then DOF then Sporting Director.

              Crazy stuff imho.

The manager MUST control recruitment and have final say on the youths. Take these away and u have nothing more than a coach picking other people's players.

Wish Brendan Rogers all the best, but I fear it is a bad move, the Liverpool job is a poisoned chalice!

Far too much expectation at Liverpool, too much pressure, tell me what did Kenny do that warranted the boot ?

a lot will depend on what authority he really wields, can anyone think of any other prem club with this set up of coaching staff, will the moneyball approach so revered by fsg be as successful in football as it was in baseball.

only time will tell, recalling cole and aquilani infers that no great amount of money will be given for transfers, but the most telling is the appparent (if true) statement is that aiming for fourth before a ball has been kicked in the new season is regarded as acceptable

as quoted by some posters on this site, first is first and second is nowhere.

then where is fourth,or more importantly, where the ~~~~ is eighth

Am with gc on this issue -- Rodgers' success Liverpool will depend on the amount of time and authority that Fenway Sports Group (FSG) are willing to accord to the Irishman.

My opinion of him really changed after seeing his work at Swansea and the style of football the club adopted in their maiden BPL season. I didn't rate him much after seeing his work at Watford and Reading but I'm a convert after Swansea.

He has the players to succeed at Liverpool IMO. Aquilani can be the equilavent to his Liverpool team what Sigurdsson was to his Swansea team. Only problem is whether or not he's willing to knuckle down and work hard in England.

With that said, I wish Rodgers all the luck in the world!
