I've got to admit apart from the torch coming through my town there's been very little interest shown in it. I can't see it encouraging many youngsters to take up any of the sports as the sport bodies have been raped of money to pay for it. Sport Scotland alone has had their funding cut by over ?400,000,000 since the build up to the games. Money they won't get back as the Olympics are so over budget and the countries skint.

Still a few of the big companies involved will be able to pay bigger bonuses to their shareholders.

i got nagged into taking kids down to see it, absolutely rammed, saw it for maybe 2 seconds. crowds whooping and hollering like take that had come to town, then imagine a crowd of about twelvty hundred people all trying to get across a 3 foot bridge. cos thats where i was for the other ~~~~ing hour of the torch turning up.

as for the games, everything else can ~~~~ off, i'll watch the footy but ~~~~ anything else. the only other good thing about this olympics is the fact that we dont have to watch it in these days of 1000s of channels.

Was watching a program(can't remember what it was called) a couple of weeks ago, 1 of the presenters mentioned that food would be very expensive, he quoted that a HotDog would cost in the region of ?5.50 and that a packet of crisps would cost around ?1.50.

It's an excuse to knock down all the crappy places in London that they built with out money last time and build new places with more we've paid out. No doubt the companies involved will do very nicely out of it, but everyday joe public will get nothing apart from having to cover the debt left by it. I can't see anything it's done for any area other than London or the companies/banks that have spent money getting ready for it.

I'm looking forward to the Olympics we've got some very good athletes in the uk and home advantage gives them a good shout. What I hate about it is the money sums involved I mean 13 million for the opening ceremony alone it's disgusting.

Yes, no intrest in the olmpic games. it just seems a HUGH punlicity stunt for bmw, coccola and samsung.
