    Celtic transfer

Delighted with the new signings of defender Efe Ambrose, striker Nicolas ?Miku? Fedor, and back-up keeper Lubos Kamenar, Fedor particularly looks exciting, Lenny seems to have his head well in place and over the moon he didn't make a wasteful marquee signing. Exciting times ahead for the Hoops

Hopefully Lennon and his team can develop these players further. We are a selling club but it's always a good sign to see the team being strengthened.

Neil Lennon completed his summer signings on Sunday when the Tunisia striker Lassad Nouioui joined Celtic on a two-year deal, subject to international clearance.

Nouioui, who spent the last three years with Spanish side Deportivo de La Coru?a, is looking forward to playing for Celtic in the Champions League where they will come up against Barcelona, Benfica and Spartak Moscow.

"I'm absolutely delighted to sign for Celtic," he told the club's website. "Celtic is a huge club with a magnificent history and a fantastic support. I know all about the wonderful atmosphere at Celtic Park and I can't wait to play there.

"I know that Celtic already has a great squad of players. I hope to play my part in bringing success to the club and, of course, I'm also looking to competing in the Champions League with such a great football club."

Some great business done in the transfer market by Lenny all the more so as he didn't go for a big name big wage player who would offer little, building for the future.

Do you really think a big name, big wage player would go to celtic nowadays ? or the SPL for that matter, the days of the big name player in Scotland are long gone but i do believe that there are players out there in other lowly footballing countries that would still make it in the SPL but tbh that wouldn't be hard as our players do not seem to apply themselves the same way the foreign players do even at a lower level in other countries.

Of course another problem for the roots of Scottish football is bringing in another foreigner which says a lot for the home grown talent out there that tunisian and other backwater nations footballers are being bought instead of home grown talent.

To be honest tho surely the SPL is a better option for some of these players that are being bought especially financially, whether its better for them in footballing terms being in the SPL i have my doubts about that.

Ah nice to see sevco fans in a Celtic thread.

They are big enough for the standard of our league. Stepping stone for players. Get them cheap, help them on in their developments.

Ki cost 2m we got 6m+

Wanyama and the rest will leave and we will bring in money and the cycle will continue
Sevco need to wait till Jan 2014.

Have you seen either striker play? My initial guess is no, but correct me if I'm wrong

And as for homegrown talent, we've played Forrest, Irvine, Watt, Twardzik, Chalmers and McGeoch this season, as well as Fraser last season

The demise of your club had meant we can play more kids, so that's another bonus for us.

One thing I would be worried about if I was a fan of your team is the signing of players on what I can only imagine are inflated wages. Lightning might end up striking twice

Forget it the post wasn't meant to be seen as a dig but a comment on why so called big names or players would want to sign for celtic or any other SPL club nowadays, but as usual some people use it as a personal platform to have a dig or a personal jibe on this occasion about sevco wtf have they got to do with the thread or what was in it.

Of course i expect this from the same people who are sending me personal messages with shite in them so i guess it will never stop i am actually seeing it from a non Rangers or celtic perspective now and tbh its getting really tedious now that the same folk are doing the same crap all the time, little wonder the threads get closed down and seen as a waste of time.

PS Southpaw i do not include you in that statement.

Didn't realise Efe Ambrose was on trial with Man City a few months ago, if he's in Mancini's sights he'll do for me

Efe Ambrose can't wait to get started at Celtic - Daily Record

By the way the homegrown talent comment was as much about buying homegrown talent not so much bringing the young ones through the ranks as you would expect any team to do really.

No malice was meant in the comment about celtic not bringing youngsters thru the ranks

The reality is that the old firm will now have to become selling clubs. Sure we have not heard of any of the new celtic boys but then again i had never heard of henrik larsson nor lubo moravcik and they were the two finest players i think i ever saw in the scottish game. A pleasure to watch them both.
