    3rd Div Footy

Great to see the part time players play there heart out and give it there all what a boost it must be for some of them to play at Ibrox and be on the TV imagine going into work and scoring against Rangers or there team getting a draw or a win even.

Surely being a postie that would get you extra tips @ Xmas well apart from the bluenoses

I've got to admit I'm not a fan of the modern top teams as they rely on bought in talent from outside their team catchment areas, but seeing the lower down teams getting the TV coverage and the dedication of semi professional players is a breath of fresh air. Even their fans deserve some praise as they do it for the love of their team and don't just blindly follow a business or support a team due to be brain washed by those around them.

Good to see them fighting tooth and nail for their division. The tackling is cringeworthy though and only a matter of time before rangers players are seriously injured.

Thats so wide of the mark its unreal.

The thing is with celtic and rangers fans and with most clubs, you follow in your fathers footsteps, no one else.

Very rare would you external family surroundings sway your footballing allegiances.

My dad and my grandfather, My Great grandfather and so forth all were celtic supporters.

As I bet nearly all rangers fans are.

Its not like England were ppl follow who is winning at the moment.

Rod i would agree with what you say here talking from a glasgow perspective it has always been the case that you followed your da's team. Outwith glasgow im not so sure why they choose an old firm team to follow.

I'm glad you agree that a lot of people follow teams by being influenced by those around them and not by the quality of the team or local affiliation. Unless you don't class admitting you followed a team because your Dad did.

My Son was born in Plymouth but lived in Newcastle, Canada, America and for the majority of his time in Scotland. He follows Plymouth first out of loyalty and if he had to choose a Scottish team he admitted it would be Celtic as there was no local teams. Technicaly he's a Protestant but like me thinks Religion is a mugs game.

If people only followed teams that were the best lets face it Scottish teams wouldn't get a look in. The lower division club supporters tend to be less influenced. They know their players aren't the best but they're local. They can relate to them. If we had more fans like this I'm sure Scottish Football would be all the better for it.

Johnboy what snowy said is perfectly right do you think it's not a form of brainwashing when you are brought up to support the team your Father followed/follows ? of course it's brainwashing the minute you are born most fathers shove the tops of the teams they support so basically you have no choice, and when you are growing up there is a subtle brainwashing occurring every year regarding football matters until its firmly entrenched in the psyche of the child then the cycle restarts when the child becomes the Father.

So snowy you are bang on with your assessment m8 and tbh to see a post that claims "it's so wild of the mark it's unreal" then goes on to say it's because there fathers father etc etc contradicts there own statement.

If the fathers fathers statement doesn't come under a form of brainwashing i will eat my Sash

I would hardly see a father and son or daughter bond in going to football games brain washing.

So no I dont see it that way, I see that as a way of life thats past to father and son.

Celtic for on has a assive world wide support and no matter where you are from it gets passed on down the ranks. Some ties get broken but most dont.

Take Celtics last game in philly, look how many celtic fans are there.

Look how many supporters clubs there is outside Scotland.

Brain washing is when you see the mass of Chinese and far east going mad for man u, real etc etc for the glory.

So make of it and twist it how ever you want SDP...............

Just look are NI John, Celtic and Rangers daft mate and they dont come form glasgow, they are born in to it.

Just because they are not from glasgow doest mean anything.

My dad was brought up in Glasgow and moved to C/brig when they had me, does that mean He should not bring me up to be a celtic fan and enjoy taking me to games ?

The whole supporting the local team is a no go, as would we have to support the other local team if we move house ?

                          No logic to that.
