I think it's because the Americans couldn't give a vicious tit about soccer. It's American football all the way for them. It's a shame really as with a population that size there's bound to be talent, but it would never be found as soccer is a second sometimes third choice sport.

I agree with Johnboy. Having lived in America for a couple of years. I think I never met an American that could name more than a couple of professional teams. Soccer is looked on as a game played by girls (no wind up). It was Ice Hockey or American Football all the way. David Beckham has obviously made a difference. I'm going back about 12 years.

I think it's changing. It's quite a popular participation sport these days

Euro football is better cause MLS sucks. Football here will never become as big like Europe cause TV here can't sell advertisement. Youth play soccer all the way thru collage but if a player wants to be come good they need to go to a youth camp in Europe. I think Brian Mcbride went to Holland when he was young. If America had youth camps here we would produce better players.

nah,never get it a moments thought,might have summat to do with the fact the americans never invented it and have not worked out how to re-write history to make it look like they did,so they choose to not really participate
