WEST Brom striker Roman Bednar has been suspended by the midlands club over allegations he bought illegal drugs.
The 26-year-old Czech international was named and pictured in the News of the World today and the relegation troubled club have taken swift action.
The article showed Bednar allegedly buying drugs outside his Sutton Coldfield home hours after Albion's 3?1 victory over Wigan Athletic last weekend.
Bednar, who joined the Baggies from Hearts in August 2007 in a ?2.3million deal last summer, is alleged to have handed over ?420 for cocaine and cannabis.
When confronted, the 26-year-old is reported to have claimed that the drugs were for a friend before later saying: "I am f****d."
A statement from the Barclays Premier League club read: ?Roman Bednar has been suspended while the club conduct an internal investigation to the matter.?
The frontman was a revelation in his first season at The Hawthorns, finding the net 17 times in 22 starts as West Brom won promotion to the Barclays Premier League and made it to the semi-finals of the FA Cup.
This term he has started just 12 times in the league, coming off the bench on 14 occasions, and has scored six goals.
Bednar signed for Hearts from Czech club Mlada Boleslav in July 2005.
