I have to say im a little surprised to see Steve Bruce at the SOL, especially as this is what he said when he was linked with the position when Keane left:

                Bruce rejects Sunderland talk
                Latics chief happy at JJB

Wigan boss Steve Bruce has ruled out the prospect of him becoming the next Sunderland manager.

Bruce is continually linked with jobs that become available as a result of the impressive work he has done at the JJB Stadium.

The former Manchester United captain admits he would not be interested in the job because he would see it as an act of betrayal towards his former Old Trafford team-mate Roy Keane and that as a Geordie he could never manage Newcastle's biggest rivals.

"Let's nip this straight in the bud. It's a total non-starter," Bruce told The Sun.

"I'm very happy at Wigan and if you cut me open I'd be black and white to the core!"

He's an undercover Geordie who's going to take you down!

Congratulations to Sunderland, Steve is a nice chap. I have heard that he will hire Zigic from Valencia. That would be a great move. Good luck Bruce!

I wanted Jol, but he went to Ajax, but looking at the other managers that were being linked with us i'm pleased we got Bruce.

Strachan, McClaren, Curbishley, no no no, I think with Bruce we will be gauranteed prem survival, a thing that aint ever been gauranteed with us for many years, might be mid table, but Id sooner be mid table with 5 games to go looking at a potential 7th place spot and Europe rather than being looking over our shoulders with 5 games to go hoping we dont get dragged into relegation.

The bloke never seems to waste money on duff players (unlike Keane), and he takes no sh*t (Zaki case).

Only thing is, we need to get rid of Jones, Murphy, Stokes and lots more, but because Bruce is new in charge, he will give these bench warmers another chance when we should be cashing in on them.

So... Bruce as manager ?, yes for me, the sensible choice, but the right choice for where we are at.

dont think jones will be as lazy for bruce as he appeared under paly sbragia, he would be dropped like a bomb.
