Who will win the World Cup?

After seeing the performances of Brazil, Italy and Spain, in the Confederations Cup, I don't think England has anything to fear from these teams.

Portugal look like they're not going to qualify, Germany have not been strong enough for a decade now, France are looking second best in their group to Serbia.

Of course next year all might be different, but the biggest challengers are likely to be England, Serbia (had a really good qualifiers), Argentina and Holland with an outside chance.

    Your thoughts?

lets be honest we say the same thing evevry time the world cup comes around. england have a chance of winning it. ok this time around we have qualifide in style. but come the the finals it will be the usal suspects at the end. and as for germany not being strong enough we say that every world cup. my money is on spain as it is every world cup.

a lot can happen in the next 12 months but England have not got a better chance (now we got a decent manager) the likes of Spain/Italy/Holland & Brazil will be there or there abouts but for me Argentina look very strong,so depending on how the draw works out i'm going for England/Argentina final with the Argies just shading it

I saw the game and England were poor, but weren't that bad to deserve to lose 4-0. England had key players missing due to suspension. the second goal was shocking goalkeeping from a reserve u-21 keeper who won't ever make it to the full international team. The third was in the closing stages when England were a man down due to injury during the closing stages and were pushing up to try to get back in the game. The fourth the game was lost and england had abandonded defence to go all out attack to score so a German fourth at this stage was of little significance. Before you come out with ridiculous statements like that, please learn what football is, so you can make an informed comment, otherwise stay out of the thread.

Nobody has said England will win the World Cup, we said we have a good chance. We now you're only jealous cos Poland won't qualify, so if you can't handle it England fans being optimistic, go back where you won't have to put up with it

USA are one to watch they have been slowly developing and are now putting in good results. Alot good players coming through the ranks and been noticed by european clubs. I would say they are going to the quarters or semi's.
next couple would cups could easy be finalists.

                            One country to watch.

I agree, they are up and coming, but they're not there yet. I think it will be at least another decade before they're good enough. I agree though that they could make the Quarter or Semi-Final, every now and then a "less fancied" team will make it, such as South Korea and Turkey in 2002. USA are better than South Korea and probably about as good as Turkey these days, although the Koreans had home advantage then and the Turks have dipped a bit. Still a Quarter-final appearance is realistic and with a bit of luck a Semi-final is possible
