Actually when it was created it was only the Champions of a league that were allowed in it. Thats the way it should be as it is not a League of Champions now UEFA bowed to the money that could be made opening the competition up to 2 3 and even 4th place teams in teh big money leagues. It is now A european mini league.

You could well be right there. It may have had a season or Two where only the winners entered. It was never going to be solely for Winners it was always going to be a money making league. As you said, a mini league.

Course I am see post above yours coz we beat leeds home and away to get to the group phase. Remember that well as I went on Holiday to Kos that year and became good mates with a leeds lad

celtic put up a good fight of it but at the end of the day they just wernt good enough up front.it was a night that thier luck just wasnt with them as it has been for a number of years now.the stats dont lie .arsenal had the majority of play plus more shots on and off target.samaras and fortune dont cut it ,mcdonald brown and aiden mcgeady stood out for me they are class pity about the rest .celtic should build a team around them .good luck next week score first and make a game of it ,dont and they might get hammered..play for pride.

Well the first goal was funny and Lucky it has to be said but the second would have gone in anyway, look beyond caldwell, bendtner is a yard behind him and he wouldnt have missed the chance had the ball gone to him! if he would miss then Caldwell wouldnt have touched it!

The second was just as unlucky, though it was a great ball in, it could well have went out for a corner off Caldwell but unfortunately it hit the net, what about the pen decisions Brown was cleaned out as he was about to strike on goal and Bendtner blatantly handled the ball both stone wall pens IMHO, besides that when McGeady was blatantly taken down the ref didn't even issue a card, he (the ref) was very dissapointing in my opinion, but that said Arsenal are a very decent football team and although I'm dissapointed in the result I'm not with regard to Celtics efforts and who knows, score fisrt at the emirates and it could well be an interesting night.

I got offered a place in a car with match ticket tomorrow. Pity I'm going through one of my skint periods so I had to knock back the ticket.

Never been down to London for a game, it would've been some trip and potentially a massive upset is on the cards as well

i agree with the coment about only champions getting into the champions league,the first time rangers were in it they had to beat the english champions to qualify ,we beat them home and away 2 1 in each game.that year there was only champions in it an we came so close to making the final that year.

Can see Celtic going far in the new Europa league as long as they can start scoring!

i cant see them not scoring but the defence needs to be better.i dont understand why they might be letting mcdonald leave as it says in some neaspappers today.
