watched the match tonight and wat a load of crap it was then listened to the TV PUNDITS to hear wat they had to say .to hear 1 of them say we have some great internatinal players is a joke the only player we have that might make it into a selected world cup team is shey given the rest would not even make the bench.

didn't see the game but I agree that Ireland don't have any great international players. The problem is that Ireland is such a small county that they seldom get a great player, so the pundits tend to overreact. Great by Irish standards maaybe, but by international standards? no way! -
Jeez it was hard work looking at that last night, it was like volley ball, at times the ball was so high in the air it went out of camera shot for a few seconds!!
I also heard Dunphy say Ireland has some "great" players and i cringed, but at the same time Ireland does have some handy players that should be able to turn over a team like Cyprus.
We were also found out big time in midfield, no matter what you think of Stephen Ireland (nut job) we seriously need him back in the squad.
Dunphy had some good points though, like saying some of the players would never play that brand of football for their respective clubs. have you ever see J o'Shea smash the ball up field like that for Utd??
Even Shay Given's distribution amounted to booting the ball up field and hoping for the best.
But when all is said and done we are still only a point behind the Italians and 5 pts better than Bulgaria having played a game more.
But yes, it was ugly ugly football.
