    England V Croation

I have just read that the England match may not be shown anywhere in the UK.

With ITV, Sky and Channel Five showing no interest in showing the game, and tentative discussions with the BBC getting nowhere, there could be a TV blackout of the game entirely.

it is the Ukraine game. What will have happened is the TV companies will have been waiting for Wednesday's results to see if England have qualified or not.

The game would have been worth a lot more if England had not qualified. Now that England has qualified the game will not be as attractive. It is effectively a friendly for English fans so there won't be as much demand for the rights. No TV company showed any interest since the game's commercial value was at the time unknown Now that it is known I'm sure the companies will make their bids, albeit much lower than they would have been had England not already qualified.

The comapy that bought the broadcast rights off the Ukranian FA are the big losers here as England matches are their main draw and they will only be able to sell it for the price they would expect for a friendly, but sell it they will, as they will have to recoup as much of their losses as possible.

Ignore the pay-per-view internet stream idea as nobody in their right mind would pay to watch this particular match over the internet now England have qualified.
