Barcelona In Shock ?85m Swoop For Manchester United Star Wayne Rooney - Report

The England striker appears to have impressed the Catalan side.....
    Nov 8, 2009 12:53:10 AM

Barcelona are preparing to launch a world record ?85 million raid for Manchester United's superstar striker Wayne Rooney, according to the News of the World.

The tabloid claims that the Camp Nou board hopes to exploit the Red Devils' financial concerns in order to top Real Madrid's ?80m purchase of Cristiano Ronaldo last season.

Sir Alex Ferguson is yet to reinvest the money brought in from his Portuguese protege's departure, and it is thought that the Old Trafford club's debts are preventing him from doing so.

Meanwhile, with Rooney set to enter the 2010 World Cup as England's marquee player, Barca believe his arrival next summer would be just the marketing leveller needed after Los Galacticos output in the last transfer window.

However, the Spanish giants are aware of the difficulties in orchestrating such a signing - the main problem being that the player himself has often expressed his desire to remain at United for the rest of his career.

Furthermore, the 24-year-old's wife, Colleen, recently gave birth to the pair's first child, and so he would be naturally wary of destabilising his young family by moving abroad.

      THE TRUTH
      The Hillsborough Independent Panel. 12/09/12

Today's report is black and white. The Liverpool fans were not the cause of the disaster.
The panel has quite simply found 'no evidence' in support of allegations of 'exceptional levels of drunkenness, ticketlessness or violence among Liverpool fans' and 'no evidence that fans had conspired to arrive late at the stadium' and 'no evidence that they stole from the dead and dying'.

        Ridiculous story.
Barca have no interest in him ,where would they play him ????
He doesnt suit their style of play, he isnt a clinical enough goalscorer and the players they have at the moment are better than him.
Frankly most of these stories are just made up.

No chance, I doubt they're even interested since they already have Henry, Ibrahimovic and Messi....and besides there's no way Man U will sell him now, not when they got silly money for Ronaldo just last season, which I still believe was a big mistake for them - not that I could give too much of a toss like.....any time Man U throw the title away is like them chucking a fiver my way, I'll take it!

That's why he should be playing in the hole just behind the strikers, linking up midfield to the strike force for England - Rooney would be perfect in that role for us at the World Cup. He has all the attributes for that position to a world class level, and yet as a striker he simply isn't prolific enough despite the eye for a wonder goal, slot him in that position just behind the front 2 at the World Cup and Rooney will be awesome, guaranteed.
