                            So they weren't really injured.

Wayne Rooney 'accepts Manchester United training performance fine'

Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has accepted a fine for his performance in training following a night out, BBC Sport understands.
Rooney went for a meal on Boxing Day with his wife and fellow players Darron Gibson and Jonny Evans.
Despite no suggestion they misbehaved or drank too much, Sir Alex Ferguson was unhappy with their training performance the next day.
Rooney was fined one week's wages, and has accepted the punishment.
The player, who was dropped for United's defeat by Blackburn on Saturday, is understood to want to draw a line under the matter and get back on the pitch.
Evans and Gibson are also reported to have been fined and were also left out of the United squad for the Boxing Day match.
It has been reported that Ferguson made them come in on Wednesday - a designated day off - and train on their own.
United take on Newcastle at the Sports Direct Arena on Wednesday.

Going out for a meal with your wifes and mates is no big deal, carry on drinking afterwards and turn up pissed to train then dropped for a game which we lost and cost us 3 points, does send a strong message, to the players involved and to the rest of the team. Once again Rooney has let us down.

                                I agree Andy

It did cost you 3 points and they may well be critical come end of season, Fergie did the right thing, these players are paid huge amounts of money and have a responsibility to the club and the fans who pay them.

I don't why they tried to hide it though, once the gutter press get wind of it they will stop at nothing to get their story.
