Or as it really happened. Uefa knew they made a mistake in changing the rule that the champions wouldn't automatically qualify because they didnt think it would ever happen again.
When it did they knew they dropped a clanger and almost immediately powers within Uefa started making noises that Liverpool should, as defending champions be allowed to defend their title.They have since reverted back to how it's always been and decided the champions will always have the right to defend their title

whether or not that USED to be the way of things isnt in dispute. the fact remains that the rules were changed albeit again to suit liverpool.

He was reported to have said: "The winner should have a chance to defend the title. We must sit down as a matter of real urgency to see if there is a way to make it happen. If there is a rule that harms the tournament, we have to discuss changing the rule."

The only bright spot in our team was Scholes with his perfect passes.

Today we saw how defending players are often underestimated.
No Vidic and Ferdinand and it looked like Liverpool can ride a tractor in our 16 meter box.

We are paying tribute for non buying any players in the winter. From the first 6-7 teams in the league UTD is one with the shortest bench.

We could argue about some ref desisions but Liverpool was better anyway,

Hope UTD will gather forces to stand up and continue title road.

If you look at the big picture with Manu they could of bought but would it guaranteed the title? To me no it wouldn't they still have a great chance to win the title and no matter what they have a champion league spot. Not buying a Player this winter hurts their chance in Europe and give them no chance to win the champion league. About today even with Vidic and Ferdinand they didn't stand a chance Liverpool was just too good today
