Sir Alex Ferguson remained behind from United's pre-season trip to Norway for Sunday's friendly with Valerenga, can only see him staying behind is to sign a player, Lucas Morau it could be but his agent has denied all accounts of it happening or could it be RVP.

don't think you'll get Lucas Moura, he has openly said he would rather go to PSG, and they've made a mega offer for him.

Fergie on RvP and Moura on manutd.com

Sir Alex Ferguson says he is persevering in his bid to sign Robin van Persie after losing out on Lucas Moura.

With PSG declaring they have won the race to sign Brazilian Lucas for a club record fee, speculation has been rife that the Reds are stepping up attempts to land the Arsenal captain. Although the Gunners would clearly prefer to sell to a club outside of the Barclays Premier League, the boss is hopeful a deal can be struck.

"I can't give you any more information," he said when asked about van Persie. "We have made a bid and they've been trying to negotiate with other clubs. We just have to persevere. Hopefully it will come our way. We're trying our best but there's no progress at this moment in time.

"I don't have a gut feeling on it at the moment, I must admit. We're not getting any breakthrough with Arsenal. It's difficult to say why they're operating this way. I don't know what their thoughts are because they're not giving anything away."

Regarding Lucas' sale from Sao Paulo, it is further evidence that the cash-laden Parisiens mean business in the transfer market.

"I find it quite amazing that a club can pay ?45million for a 19-year-old boy," Sir Alex continued. "To make a mark on everyone - to tell everyone that PSG are here - they've signed Thiago Silva from Milan and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

"They must have spent about ?150m in the last month. As you know, the only deterrent to that is UEFA. In the conditions of European football, you don't qualify for Europe by winning the league or coming second - you only get in by invitation. That's where, hopefully, UEFA can have some power. When somebody's paying ?45m for a 19-year-old boy you have to say the game's gone mad."

Thats why Mancicni has to sell players before he can add who he wants this season to the squad.

                          http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/foo...-on-a-fee.html

But a compromise has been reached with United understood to be paying ?15m as an initial payment, with further fees dependent on add-ons linked to Van Persie***8217;s appearances, goals and silverware won as a United player.
From the Telegrath, if true that is a great price.

Downside to RVP arriving is that Hernandes may be on his way apparently both Arsenal and Juventus are interested.
Shame, I'd like to see him stay.

Dont understand it meself giggs at 97 scholes aged 86 surely we need some midfielders we look well short and strikers we have plenty

unless he is planning on developing fat lad in the midfield or playing persie up top with wellbeck or chich or maybe even having Vp on his own up top with 5 man midfielders with wellbeck and rooney doing flank work and kagawa behind VP with a scholes and carrick combo sitting in middle

valencia right back chicharito left back vid and ferdinand and phil jones in goal

                              maybe???????

20-24 million the rumours say he is 29 granted he is a very good player is he what we need?? last season apart he gets lots of injuries

is it desperation after a couple of turn downs???

time will tell im 50/50 at the min he could be the main man next year or equally the biggest flop
