    celtic new signings

Celtic have signed Fulham striker Diomansy Kamara and Dutch left back Edson Braafheid from Bayern Munich on loan until the end of the season.

Kamara, 29, has played more than 40 times for Senegal, scoring nine goals, and played under Celtic manager Tony Mowbray when at West Brom.

And 26-year-old Braafheid, who has five caps for the Netherlands, has been signed to bolster the defence.

Mowbray has also completed the signing of Paul Slane, 18, from Motherwell.

Paris-born Kamara has started just five league games for Fulham this season, scoring once, and struck against CSKA Sofia in the Europa League.

His first English club was Portsmouth, who he joined after playing for Red Star 93, Catanzaro and Modena.

A move to West Brom was followed by a switch to Craven Cottage and he made his debut for the club against Arsenal in August 2007.

The following summer he suffered a cruciate ligament injury while playing for Senegal, then made his comeback in February 2009.

But with Andy Johnson, Bobby Zamora, Erik Nevland and David Elm ahead of him in the pecking order at the Premier League club, he has opted to move to Glasgow for regular football with a manager he knows well.

Dutch full-back Braafheid was at Utrecht before moving to FC Twente in 2007, then Bundesliga side Bayern Munich last summer.

He is keen for regular first-team football to help secure his place in the Netherlands squad for the World Cup in South Africa.

The Scottish Premier League side have the option to buy Kamara at the end of the season.

Motherwell, meanwhile, are unhappy at losing their former youth player Slane, at such an early stage in his career. He has signed for Celtic on a four-year deal for an undisclosed fee.

Motherwell are disappointed to lose Slane to Celtic

A statement by Motherwell chairman John Boyle on the club website said: "We have tried and tried to get Paul to sign a long-term contract but much to our extreme disappointment, he has continually refused.

"We have offered the player improved competitive terms in line with other progressing youngsters at the club but both personally and through his agent, he has refused.

"Paul has been at the club for six years and we have financed his development and nurtured his talent, culminating in his senior debut at the end of last season.

"We have also stuck by and supported him over those years through both personal issues and injury and felt we were due some degree of loyalty for our efforts. Sadly he has chosen to refuse our offers and move on to Celtic."

The arrival of the trio on the final day of the transfer window comes after the signing of FC Seoul's Ki Sung-Yong, Thomas Rogne from Stabaek, Brondby's Morten Rasmussen and Jos Hooiveld from AIK Stockholm.

aye and a mind they sighned bellamy supposedly to win the league, and what happns rangers win.too late this year im affraid far too many new players at one time ,the time for experimenting was at the start of the season not now when 10 points adrift rangers may not be playing well but they are getting results week in week out.still the mowbray way may work if not this year maybe next year.

The Keane signing is a boost to the fans, if he helps to win the league so be it but thats not why he has been brought to the club. Lawwell sensed there could be fan trouble and has made this move to prevent that, which to some extent should work.

I agree it may be too late for this season, but am more than happy with the signings, the atmosphere had gone from Celtic park, I myself returned my season book last year as I was dissillusioned with the club. I will be returning now as I belive there are exciting times ahead with the rebuilding of the squad.

Kamara is an excellent signing, he should do well in the SPL, Rasmussen scored after only 3 mins on his debut and although too early to call thats not a bad way to begin. Hooiveld done well on his debut and looked commanding in defence alongside young Josh Thompson and with Braafheid the defensive problems look to be sorted, McGinn,McCourt, McGeady, Ki and Zengh are all exciting players on the ball, hopefully they all gell as a team.

Finally, good luck to Tony Mowbray, I think he's a decent manager who will take Celtic back up were they belong in european football, they are too big a club not to be there, hopefully Rangers too can get back to thier best as for me european football isn't the same when thier not there.

it looks to me that it will be next season before we see celtic back to thier best as what you say may be correct as in the new players need to bond on the pitch, hwever celtic will start to put a good run togeather.the only stumbling block wil remain to be rangers as they have an impressive lead just now.the old firm games will be crackers and i am looking forward too them.the only thing in rangers favour apart from the lead in points is that in walter smith they have a manager who thrives on preassure.anyway good luck tony.

"It's absolutely unbelievable," Keane told them. "This is the reason why I've always wanted to come to Celtic."

He added: "It's no secret over the years I've been a Celtic fan. I'm hoping to bring a lot of success in the short time I'm here."

                ffs

Your manager ruined an outstanding footballer, as he's done to many many more at Liverpool, Keane was and still is a top class player, who could grace any league or any team.

So why was he farmed out to a lesser league. Cant deny it spurs have played better without him than with him
