Chick Young - Old firm - Only An excuse

    Chick Young

February 28, 2010, Judgement Afternoon 389, Soccermageddon, Apocalypse Now and then some, the rumble in the jungle, the thrilla in Manila, the Third World War, the clash of the titans, the greatest club game in the footballing world bar none.

Yes, this weekend will see the forces of good, loyal righteousness and pure evil come together in that magnificent temple of football, the architecturally astonishing Ibrox Stadium in a match that will determine, once and for all, who truly are the pee-pell!

Some people say it is just another match but those who say that are obviously insane, big jessies or balloons who like rugby.

The outcome of this match is more important than the outcome of the general election which will decide who will govern this country, even more important than the answer to the question ? who killed Archie Mitchell?

I thought it was Janine or Peggy or Phil or Bradley so, when it turned out it was Stacey, cor blimey, you could have knocked me down with a Pearly King?s bunnet.

But, getting back to the real deal, this Sunday?s Old Firm mis-match, the big question must be this ? by how many goals will Rangers win? Surely Krissy Krissy Boyd and King Kenny Miller are simply the best two strikers operating anywhere in the world these days and surely, SURELY the Celtic ?defence? cannot live against the pace, poise, guile, power, majesty and jamminess of this awesome pairing.

Then again, maybe Boydy will be duff as he is many times against a half-decent side, so it will be up to the superb Kyle Lafferty or the impish Nacho Novo to finish off the Hoops.

Personally, I hope it?s wee Nacho who delivers the coup de grace because, for some inexplicable reason, Celtic fans truly dislike him. S o the sight of the wee Spaniard celebrating a goal would really wind them up.

But of course, as a neutral, impartial member of the free press I have to be objective so I suppose Celtic could inexplicably fluke it and take something from this game. I suppose in Keane and Mis-fortune and Kamara and McGeady they have players who, occasionally, might score but fortunately, at the back, they have defenders incapable of keeping a wean outta drain pipe so that?s why I think Gers will win.

That, and the fact that I always take Rangers to win whenever they?re playing ... THEM. You got a problem wi? that?

Evening times - Only An excuse source.

    Always a great read

    Heres the rest

    Tony Mowbray

Well, you know, the pressure is on Rangers, we have nothing to lose ... apart from all hope in the Championship. If by some quirk of fate we should lose on Sunday then we?ll take it on the chin, move on ... then fall to the ground and start crying inconsolably.

    Alan McInally

Nope, oui, jah, uhmmm, urghhh, ok bud, put it this way. Edson Braafheid is a good, good professional player on loan at my old club, Celtic, from my other old club, Bayern Munchen. What do I know about Edson? Absolutely hee-haw, but I just couldn?t pass up a chance to remind the readers that I did in fact once play for Bayern in Munchen at Bayern in Germany.

    Craig Brown

I?d just like to thank Hibs? Liam Miller for that mad tackle of his against Motherwell on Saturday because it produced what one commentator called a ?melee?.

Now if we can just add a few stramashes in the coming weeks then the good old days will be truly back once more.

Oh, and by the way, thank you for the suggestions, but we?ve decided against introducing sandcastle- building competitions as half-time entertainment on the Fir Park pitch.

    Kenny Dalglish

If you were to ask Kenny Dalglish then Kenny Dalglish would have to say that if there is only going to be one Champions League spot for Scottish clubs, then that?s an awful lot of pressure on cash-strapped Rangers to win the league every year and even more pressure on our referees to make sure they do that.

    Jimmy Calderwood

Oh aye, y?know, I?ve been watching with great interest my pal, Mark McGhee, gradually unravelling at my old club all last week and, y?know, I feel for the boy.

The worst week of his life? Just wait son, remember it?s Aberdeen you?re at, things will get worse I can assure you.

    Jim White

Well mates, let me tell you, my gaffers at Sky were none too chuffed with St Johnstone at the weekend over the postponement of the Rangers match. When considering a postponement such as this the referee has to ask himself three questions. One, is it dangerous for the players, two, does it inconvenience the fans and three, will it benefit Celtic?

In the end the referee Mike Tumilty made the call, the match was pulled and the viewers had to endure David Tanner, Neil McCann, Ali Douglas and Andy Walker talking utter drivel for almost a full, interminable hour.

    Frank McAvennie

What do I think of Tiger Woods? apology? Well, did you see some of the ex-model burdz he was nicking about wi?? If I was havin? to gie that up I?d be greetin? as well.
