what changes would you make to football?

What things would you change to make football a better game? or wouldn't you change a thing?
Rugby change their rules quite regularly, and I think the game's improved no end.

As for football...

- stop the clock for injuries
- video ref
- maybe a free kick on the edge of the 'D' for defenders shirt tugging on corners etc (refs reluctant to give pens).
- huge punishment for voilence (studs down heels etc) spotted on video footage after match

Go back to the simple offside rule, if your on the pitch
your interfering with play, none of this inactive/active
crap...

also will add the best rule change, keepers not being able to pick up back passes, have watched some old games, and if your 1 nil up, the other team would never get a chance, its made it a better game..

I would do away with seeding for cup competitions and make every round an open draw, even the qualifiers. Much more chance of shocks and would stop tournaments like the World Cup and Champions League being so boring

only my opinion but............

as a once fanatic lover of football I have gradually become disillusioned with the modern game

what annoys me is when players blatantly obstruct the opposition when shielding the ball out of play and get away with it
also when in the box for corners free kicks etc. they are continuously shirt pulling etc. obviously the refs can see this but just turn a blind eye because they haven't got the bottle to give penalties etc. or maybe its the big boys with the money who are controlling them.
How many times do you see a referee with his xray specs give free kicks in the outfield even if he is nowhere near the play but once its in the box he can be a few yards away but his glasses suddenly become misted over
We see every game players going down as if they were pole axed and roll about better than ballet dancers (wouldn't like to think I depended on them when we used to get into fights at the dances) and if more of these con men/prima madonnas were sent off it would help to get it back to a mans game

for me there is too much money in the game and unfortunately money talks

My biggest wish to improve the game is to see the game refereed and played in the same spirit as Rugby Union

refs to use to common sense,the way things are going you wont be able to tackle any more,do away with off side all to gether get back to the days of goal moochers,and straight red for diving/ cheating /etc

What i would like to see is done is have FIFA Officials go over video of games and start fining players and the team money for diving or any other offense the referee was conned or didn't see. That means Spanish,Italian and Brazilian players would be the poorest players Ha Ha

When you get a free kick near the penalty area you have to wait for the bloody ref's whistle!! Why can?t you just play the free kick like you can anywhere else on the pitch as fast or as slow as you like. Or and bring in video refs!!!

have said for 30 yrs or more, we need 2 linesmen on both flanks.. if both agree, ok, if not the ref can arbitrate like he does now. uefa cup tried a man on each goal line last season, was not an instant success but its a start. surely something needs to be done, rapido... or get rid of sepp blatter...

put an end to shielding the ball out unless its at your feet, obstruction otherwise.
any player found cheating for a penalty gets a red card, even days after the game, he and club both fined.
revert to old offside rule.
all games to kick off at 3 removing advantage from teams with late k.o.
cap wages and transfer fees.
look at extra points for teams who score 3 or more goals in an away game.

anyone one caught divin, cheatin, fainin injury should be publicly hung drawn and quartered.

every sport you could think of has embraced technology to make life easier for there umpires, refs etc.

I think they should abolish the backpass and apply the offside rule as the player receives the ball, not when the ball is kicked.
