I don't think Vettel should have got any punishment to be honest.

Vettel was faster than Button and tried to go around him. He skids because of the rain and then it is out of his hands where he ends up. Unfortunately he ends up hitting Button!

Up until the skid he's done nothing wrong. So what happens next,a drive through penalty for an avoidable accident!!!

WTF is that all about? Are they actually meant to race one another in F1 these days or should we all just sit watching a big procession?

I use to like Mansell but the guy is an idiot when it comes to overseeing race incidents.
ANY crash,accident,engine blowout,tyre blowout etc etc is avoidable so is everyone going to get a drive through when something out of the ordinary happens. Ramming the ~~~~ing barriers at 200mph is avoidable but it still happens.

Yes. Bloody stupid thing to do at that part of the track in those conditions. Hence the penalty.

Smart racing drivers know when to race and when and where to be careful.

Vettel is quickly developing a reputation for being a little short in the smarts department.

I always remember the famous quote that Ayrton Senna made:

?If you don?t go for a gap that exist, you?re not longer a racing driver! We race to win. Not for 3rd, 4th or 5th, but to win.? ?Sure, sometimes you get it wrong, it?s impossible to get it right all the time?

I hope we?re not going to start seeing penalties every time a driver loses control and happens to hit another car while trying to overtake them. It would discourage exactly the sort of wheel-to-wheel racing F1 should be promoting.
Mistakes happen, and if some blameless driver gets taken out by a rival who?s lost control of his car, that?s just part of racing.


If F1 carries on with these penalties then it is in danger of actually banning racing!


It is also worth noting in the post-race interview with the BBC, Lewis Hamilton said ?he did everything he could to back us up and get the most points?.
It seems as though it was part of Jenson Button?s job to hold up the other cars to give Hamilton maximum advantage.
Were team orders at play?
Was Jenson Button deliberately holding up the pack?
