A GROUP of Celtic fans were last night blasted for unfurling a giant anti-poppy banne

A GROUP of Celtic fans were last night blasted for unfurling a giant anti-poppy banner during Saturday's game with Aberdeen.
The minority - known as the Green Brigade - displayed the banner claiming the poppy was "bloodstained" by military activity in Ireland, Iraq and Afghanistan.
Charity Poppy Scotland branded it "disrespectful and regrettable" - and many fans' websites also slammed the move.
But Poppy Scotland chief Ian McGregor added: "I don't believe for a moment it reflects the views of the overwhelming majority of Celtic supporters."
And when asked how servicemen would feel, he added: "I would hope they would not judge a whole club's support by the actions of a tiny minority."

Who are the green brigade? And these so called fans that did it should be banned from future games in scotland!!!!
IM SORRY but i will never have any sympathy for maggie thatcher .... the bitch

I WOULD STILL LIKE TO SAY MY HEART AND RESPECT GOES OUT ALL BRITISH AND ALL ARMY TROOPS FIGHTING THE TERROR WHICH STILL BREEDS IN THE WORLD!! YOU HAVE AND ALWAYS WILL HAVE MY UTMOST RESPECT !

Banned from all future games in Scotland for a none abusive banner???

Fans who fight, riot, shout racist remarks, sing bigoted and racist songs should not be??? but fans who unveil a none abusive banner should be???

Is this not a democratic, free country 5life? or do you think sport & politics don't mix?

Ps I'm sure living in Scotland you know who the Green Brigade are. Like the Blue Order at Rangers & the Ultras at Aberdeeen they are a 'singing section' if you like, a fans group that sit together bring flags & banners into the stadium and sing all game.

Oh and by the way like many/most people living in the UK members of my family fought against the facist Nazi's in the 2 world wars.

while it not be racist ! It still is disgusting from point of view! All because they pay for the tickets... Means they are allowed to act like this? Just out of interest do you agree with them?

Sorry mate. Not trying to wind you up, but this is a democracy.

I have never said that this was a Celtic or Rangers thing. And just to pick you on on your belief that "all british troops deserve respect". So the troops that carried out the 2 bloody sundays in Ireland derserve respect!???? I will not even go into some of the other atrocities committed by 'some' British troops in Ireland.

All british & allied troops fighting in the 2 world wars deserve all our respect and thanks for ever, for what they did in defeating the evil nazi tyranny. But to say that all British troops fighting in all conflicts derseve respect - I just can't agree with you there & that is the point what I think the green brigade was trying to make.

In answering your question No, but I don't think they should be banned from watching games in Scotland.

Is it a crime or an arrestable offence to do what they have done? You tell me.

Now will you answer some of my questions?

So what I think your saying is -
                      1) This country is a democratic society, the sort of society what the many millions who fought in the world war against the Nazi's were actually fighting to achieve!
                      2) What these fans did was not a crime or against the law.
                      3) You don't believe in a democracy of freedom of speech unless it's what you want to hear.

You never did get back to me about the racism, bigotry, roiting and fighting at games. Ok for those such fans to keep coming to football in the UK then??

mattyboy what the hell are you going on about rangers and aberdeen fans for. this disgraceful act was carried out by celtic fans nobody else. its about time the real celtic fans self policed themselves and booed and reported this behaviour. Celtic are a british team playing football in britain whether you accept that or not its a fact. The very freedoms you take for granted are there because of the sacrifices of the british army and all the other various armies who stood up against dictators. Ps check your passport it says you are british so if you dont like it here then go home.

                          Johnboy the racist.

Look at my previous posts in this thread and try to read them before getting on you high horse. As you and your likes sing the famine song - which is outlawed in Scotland.

Btw I do not have a British passport, so you or wrong again there - but what has that got to do with it anyway????? Is this a British only forum? God you remind me of the old adverts in the 1950's & 60's - Blacks & Irish need not apply. Do you vote BNP by any chance?
