    darren bent headline news

the main headline story on the north east bbc news tonight was darren bent moving from sunderland to villa! skeletal remains found and murders followed but bent moving was the main story, most mackems interviewed said he went for the bigger wages why else would he leave a big club like sunderland for villa? then had a link with sunderland fanzine guy and similar for villa and they basically argued over who the bigger team are!

Firstly mate I think Sunderland have got a hell of a deal. 24 mill for Bent is dam good money. He's one of those players..a bit like Andy Cole, misses loads of chances, never looks to be playing well, but also scores goals! I think your new man Gyan looks a better player.

I think he's gone for the money and because he can probably see that he's not going to be the number striker with Gyan around and he may not have played all the games.

Re who's the bigger club.. As a neutral I would say Villa. Apart from them winning a European Cup and Sunderland having very little (if any) European pedigree. Villa have a bigger fan base. I'm not talking the current average attendence, I'm takling since 80's as least where Villa have been very well supported and I remember Sunderland pre stadium of light in the 80's struggling to get 13,000 or so. I think Villa is a bigger name world wide.

I don't think he's worth anything near ?24m.. On the flip side he did score 25 in 40 last season, but Drogba scored 29 in 32 and Torres 18 in 22.. He's not in the same class as those 2 for me but seems to be in the same price bracket..???

sunderlands not my team just pointing out it was the main headlines,i dont want to be labelled as a mackem.
the mackem fanzine guy added i think he might be the best player in the championship next season.

I'm surprised Citeh didn't go for him. They don't have enough strikers.
