Time will tell, but $35 million pounds is absurd though. Especially if Liverpool new target Suarez is only $23 million pounds, that $35 million pounds purchase is very costly......

carrol is a great typical old fashioned striker, big strong and scores goals all round with head and feet, howevr i dont see how 35million was the price. like you say jerry 98 i think suarez is a better player, very different but better still and cost much less. crazy transfers 4 you. time will tell tho and carroll has time on his side

That's the nature of the beast these days. Torres ?50m and a gamble by Chelsea at that price, considering his form over the last Eighteen months. A world class player but either kidding everyone to get a move or generally off his game, time will tell.

Caroll has looked good with the Toon but its still early days yet. He looks like he can do the business and is an old fashioned type of centre forward. Liverpool have nothing to loose really by paying ?35 for him.
Torres and Babel's sale netted us around ?56m we paid around ?58m for both Carrol and Suarez, so a net spend of around ?2m isn't really gamble, all things considered.

              THE TRUTH
              The Hillsborough Independent Panel. 12/09/12

Today's report is black and white. The Liverpool fans were not the cause of the disaster.
The panel has quite simply found 'no evidence' in support of allegations of 'exceptional levels of drunkenness, ticketlessness or violence among Liverpool fans' and 'no evidence that fans had conspired to arrive late at the stadium' and 'no evidence that they stole from the dead and dying'.

Any time you buy players coming from another league it's a gamble they will be able to perform. About Carrol 35 million is way to much for him and it is a gamble cause he is hurt and it is possible coming off an injury he might not find that forum he was in and turn back into a frog. I hope not.

Liverpool have signed him on the strength of half a good season with Newcastle in the EPL. Last season he was 6th leading scorer in the Championship despite Newcaste winning the league and scoring the most goals by far.

Paying more than Barca did for Villa is a gambe I'd say.

any player any club signs is a gamble. torres was a gamble for us and will be for chelsea. berbatov was a gamble and has only been worth it this season. you cannot judge players right away. we've had crouch and heskey who cost a few quid and had big reputations... massive success.... not... most players are hyped up by the press. take gareth bale.. who had heard of him before this season?? and for me, last but not least , darren bent... 18-24 million??? not on your nelly...

Not even worth it in Dollars although he could be in the future Liverpool got ripped off by greedy b@stard Ashley all brought on by Torres attitude both on the pitch and the timing of the transfer request. You can't really blame Liverpool for paying up to be honest what other alternative was there.

I would agree that most transfers are a gamble to some extent and would also agree that Villa have paid well over the odds for Bent. But I also think Liverpool have paid well over the odds for Carrol. Not only is he unproven, he's also had his fair share of problems off the park.

If I rememebr back to Torres pre Liverpool, he was being talked up as the next big thing in not only Spain, but Europe. Liverpool's timing on getting Torres was impeccable.

The Mirror Group of newspapers can't stand it when Liverpool do things above their beloved Man Utd.. Both the Daily & Sunday Manc are full of anti Carroll stories.. Out for the season, fuelled by booze and other such shit.. Purely because he cost more than any Manc buy

Bang on m8.. who the ~~~~ knows whats gonna happen with Carroll.. he could fall flat on his face or be worth double that in a couple of years.
As much as i hate to admit it, if i was going to have a guess i think he'll be a success...
As much as it looks like that Carroll was an impulse buy, i have my doubts, Torres has said of his desire to leave lfc two weeks ago, having already said it last season!!
So surely once he said that, players/strikers came on the lfc radar, and Carroll fitted the bill.. but they left it late hence the inflated price.
