Andy Caroll ?35m - Torres ?50m are they both worth that amount of money. No chance! There is a ?15m difference between their respective values.
If you said Caroll ?10m - Torres ?25m that seems more realistic, but yet there is still ?15m difference.
Also, LFC have had a net spend of ?2m which considering we have got rid of 2 players who either haven't perfomed or didnt want to perform lately and get 2 players who may yet still prove to be a bang on winning combo it is definately worth it.
So a net ?2m spend but over 5 years (lengh of contract) the Caroll deal is a good deal with LFC saving ?50k a week on wages. Extrapolate that over the lengh of the contract 50k x 52 weeks = ?2.6m x 5 years = ?13m.
That is a gross saving of over ?13m over 5 years. Cracking deal - keep it up King Kenny!!!Comment

I think he will prove to be an excellent buy for whatever price, hes young and strong and a good honest player,i will certainly be putting money on him scoring at least twice against us when he returns to st james park when hes fitComment

i actually think carrol will be the better buy of the 2 strikers i actually think with the right guidance and the right system of playing he will be a handfull for a lot of teams you could have something decent there
i said ages ago in scouse thread you should have got rid of torres and got a few sharp replies by people who thought he was god i also think stevie g is past his best but thats another story
50 million for torres is a good bit of business for a player who is a disinterested injury prone striker
regarding darrent bent not being worth much his goalscoring record in relatively poor teams is excellent i think his current record in top flight is 100 goals in 225 games
which is about 2.25 games per goals not bad considering he spent most of it in poor teams and his tottenham appearance were mainly as sub
Drogba is 2.04 not to dissimilar and even ahead of our fat lad rooney who is at 2.46 although if you just include rooney at united he fairs just marginally better at 2.21
torres is way ahead and averages around 1.75 games per goal after that though Bent is up there with the best of them and whilst i think prices are stupid darren bents price is a pretty fair reflection in fact you could argue with the recent signings of carrol and torres he was a bit of a bargainComment
