its just light reflecting from the rim of a mountain range or crater,
if you look at the full shot it is on the very edge of where the light meets the shadow,
so the high parts of the crater rim or mountain range (whatever it is) are reflecting light where as the lower parts are shadowed and in darkness making it look like it is sticking up out of the surface. which it is only not as high as it looks.
just an optical illusion.
