strange object

Can someone help me explain what i saw.

When flying over france (to London), the clouds were well below us and it was sunny at our altitude.

I saw something rise up from the clouds then move in straight line for a while and go down again. I was very far away, but i can tell you that it was grey and emmited no light. It flew for about 10s.
