Can i root via sd card only

Hi Guys,

I want to root and upgrade my phone to another firmware but i am unable to use the USB part of my phone because all the pins are broke inside it, this means i have take the battery out and charge it on a dock.
Is there away i can root my phone without having to plug it into my PC?

I have a HDC desire ( normal )

I wouldn't think so not with it usually having locked bootloaders and even the one click method that doesn't need a goldcard has to root from a pc

There is a way, but you won't be able to do this yourself.

Find a shop that has the XTC Clip.

They will be able to unlock, S-off & give you the superCID (Goldcard) without using the USB port. It's all done via a microSD card.
