playing music not ringtones

Hi guys i have a sony experie x8 with gingerbread installed and a 16 gb memory card.
i have lots of ring tones on the memory also my music but in order for the media player to see the music it has to be in a folder on the root of the memory card so when i play music it also plays my ringtones is there any way around this.
it also splits 1 album up to like 20 what a knightmare

I've not touched a sony ericsson phone in a long time. But you should be able to set up play lists in the music player.
