Yes mate ics has been released for the s2 but you will need to flash it manually using odin3 as 2.3.5 is the latest version released by samsung uk for kies, the ics is an official samsung release but they are so slow at putting it on kies. Remember if your phone is sim locked you can only flash a rom released by your carrier or you will brick it.

Do not flash with odin if you are sim locked to check if you are network locked type *#7465625# into your phone dialer. If network lock is on flash only with network provided roms or use kies to update and just be patient. Most carriers actually update there roms for use on kies before samsung actually does. I'm not a fan of kies but if you are network locked and don't know anything about the flashing processes then it is the safest way to go.

If you root the phone it can be unlocked but at a risk. The sgs and sgs2 are notorious for the imei number reseting to all zeros when trying to unlock and of course root willl void your warranty. Look here http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums...-i9100-229360/. I will add none of those links will work anymore as megaupload is gone but I can still supply the cf root you need for whatever firmware you are on,just ask, the process is the same...Once done check this http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums...axy-s2-222626/ use the sim unlock form cunny's link in post 2. It is unlikley the one click root will work on your firmware..You only want the sim unlock for the codes follow the sequence in my post 6......If you do try to unlock the phone the first thing you MUST do after root is install root explorer and navigate to your efs folder and make a copy of it putting it somewhere safe....This has all your imei data including number among other stuff.....If unlock goes wrong and imei is reset to zero's you just copy back your original efs folder and this should restore the original number (it may also reinstall network lock, not sure if it does or not) it is however a small price to pay for recovering a ~~~~ed phone................You could however just stick with what you have until they update kies

O2 have released there official ICS upgrade this week, I'll upgrade tomorrow through kies, see what all the fuss is about,
Three have also released there upgrade this week as well,
apparently Samsung will release the sim free upgrade in the UK once these two network versions have been tested.

you need to install Kies on your PC, once instead open program and connect you phone to PC, it should automatically find firmware upgrade and ask you if you want to install, back up your data with Kies before upgrading

do what I told lainie, if your trying to update through the phone settings it won't work, you have to connect to a PC, and use Kies(free download from Samsung).
