Guess who's just pre-ordered the Samsung Galaxy Note 3?.....

As sad as it is, I knew I'd be getting this phone as soon as it was rumored to be in the pipeline. So between now & the 25th Sept I'm gonna be like a kid counting down the days to Christmas.

I'll be back with the good & bad once I get my grubby little mitts on it.

It's been just over a week with my new toy... F me it's big! Even knowing it's the same size as the Note 2, those square edges really make a difference.
But as with the Note 2, after very little use it just feels right. Especially if you then pick up a smaller phone. My S2 looked like a kids toy after handling the Note 3.

The full HD screen is everything it should be & the auto setting for brightness does a great job.

Battery life is surprising. Given it's the new toy & I'm playing with it a lot... I've only ever seen it down as low as 34% at the end of a day. Well happy.

General speed... like sh!t off a greasy stick. 3GB of RAM does make a difference.

The camera has amazed me. Only really messed around so far. But the low light level shots that would of messed with the S2's 8MP camera, are a gem even without the use of the flash. I'll upload a pic when I get home.
Some of the modes are fun, other a gimmick. The surround shot is cool, you just need to take your time with the shots.
I've not played with the video side properly. One quick video of the boss in slow motion (not sure if it was the camera slowing him down or just his normal speed).

IR emitter is fun when using smart remote from Blackmart Alpha. I can now mess with TV's & Sky boxes while out and about.

Installed a couple of apps for the barometer. Just not spent any time using them.

The S-pen.... I've barely scratched the surface with what this can do. Handwriting recognition is spot on... even with my scrawl. Scrapbook is a great dumping ground for notes, ideas or stolen items from the internet. It's like an interactive jotting pad.

The voice control is so cool. I no longer have to touch my phone to turn off the alarm in the morning. Change tracks, increase/decrease volume, pause, play & mute on the music player. Then there's all the usual voice controls for opening apps, making calls/texts, accessing the internet, etc. It works really well.

Motions & gestures all seem fine. But I have most turned off. The hand swipe to screen grab is the most used & again, works well.

Not had as much success with the group play, S-beam & NFC sharing. Only had a Note 2 to test it with.. never managed to get any of it to work. S-Beam was intermittent on pick up & couldn't sent a photo. The group play had me ranting like an idiot infront of a two way mirror. I set up a group, tried to get the Note 2 to join..but it was insisting a password was needed to join. Even though I never set a password up on group play & removed the password on my tethering. I'm hoping it's just a problem with the Note 2's hardware.

The Speaker is loud but lacking bass. It's also now on the base of the phone, so no more muffled game play.

I'm still learning. But when everything's said & done...Even with the few things I've not got to work yet... I'd never give this phone up.
