    Galaxy s5 problems

Hi all. I bought a sim free s5 from argos. Used a sim only from virgin. Unlimited everything. Problem is with this phone is. If you are connected to wifi you will not get any phone calls and the odd txt. Then hours and hours later you get a batch of texts all in one go. Obviously first time this happened I took the phone back and got it exchanged for a new one. But two days later this pile of Samsung crap is doing the same. Cost my mate 20 quid for a taxi last night because he couldn't get in touch with me for a lift. Virgin say it's not a problem on their behalf so it's the phone. Anyone else have this problem. Or have but not yet know it. By the way Samsung support are closed until Tuesday. How wonderful

Hi mate. Yes when the wifi is off it seems to work ok. Although this morning . I got 16 txt messages from last night. I got the lass from virgin to phone me whilst on my house phone . It was on wifi when she rang but it wouldn't connect. But soon as wifi was off she tried again and it worked as did the txt she sent. Not tried another sim as of yet but virgin say their is no problem with the their side of things. She did say they have had a couple of s5 sent back with the same wifi problems. They were branded virgin contract ones. Mine is sim free unlocked unbranded and it's a 600 quid paperweight . Just if anyone else has this bother. Could be a batch of dodgy phones mate.. everything else works great. Even the download booster. Works on mine although read that contract ones. The provider are deactivating it so you can't use it with wifi to speed it up

Don't be so quick to blame the phone.

You need to get another network SIM into the phone & run the same tests.

I bet Virgin didn't tell you that they use the T-Mobile side of the EE network. And T-Mobile never admit to the problems they are having with their side of the network.

Front line staff are not able to live check the network. A piggyback company has no live access to the network. Virgin report a problem to T-Mobile who look into it.

        Have you googled the problem?

It is possible a software fault on the phone could cause this. But my moneys on the network.

        EDIT..

I've done a quick search on this problem. Only found one reference matching this ..... on T-Mobile.
One thing to try, turn on/off the download booster & run tests with it on & again when off.

Hi. Thanks for the replys. I am using the sim in my s2 without any problems.. I have been on to virgin and Samsung. Virgin tried to ring me while on wifi it couldn't connect the she tried a txt. That didn't work but turn it off and no problem. Samsung told me it looks like a problem with the phone and the usual . Dropped or water ingress to which it hasn't. Either of them. They told me to send it to them for repair. Well that's not going to happen with a 600 quid phone that's two days or was 2 days old. . I have just took it back to argos and got another one this morning. So will try this one out tonight. I know the sim could be to blame but I have tried a different sim and it's the same. My broadband is talk talk. So its not through virgin but it just seems to block calls and texts when connected to wifi. It's a strange one. . Will try this new one out and see what's what.

Hi canker. I will try that when I get home. I will also try it before the software update it asks to do at the start. A few things to try but if it's a software problem then that's okay. It will be fixed quickly I would have thought. But I will try it before the update and see. Cheers

Well .update another new phone. Another one with the same problem. Wifi blocking calls and texts. Samsung are going to phone me later on today and get into the phone remotely to see what the problem is . Hopefully they will fix it or at least say that batch of phones are faulty. 3rd one now and the same

Kind of looking more & more like the network. Multiple phones with the same problem, still nothing on google searches.
