there are a few things you can try, did this happen after trying to root your phone or did you try to flash a stock rom? did you make a full backup before ?

option 1) if you made a backup, try and start phone in recovery mode, do full wipe, format sd and wipe cache/dalvik etc (basicly restore to factory settings)

option 2) you can download and install Samsung KIES, open KIES, connect with your S3 and try to select emergency recovery. (slow but save)

option 3) if you cant get in recovery mode or KIES recovery wont work you can find the firmware you need here: Firmware archive | Samsung Updates
and flash using odin or ADB

good luck and let me know if it worked or you need more help

Or you could try removing the volume buttons from the case.

I've seen a few phones where one of the volume buttons has been jammed down, causing the phone to enter either the boot menu or download screen every time it's started.

never seen that myself but its a very good option to try before taking other more serious steps
