    Android ROM needed

I am trying to help a friend who owns a Star N9770 mobile phone.
It is commonly referred to as a "Chinese knock off" as it's a copy of a Galaxy Note 1.
The Android operating system has locked at the boot screen, the phone has NOT been rooted.
Is there any way to restore the phone using a copy of the original factory ROM for this phone ?
If so where can I get a copy and how is it possible to load it onto an un-rooted phone ?
I have tried everything I can think of and nothing has worked.
If anyone has a copy of the ROM I would be grateful.
    Cheers.

      Thanks for that djmagic.
Only problem is that malware bytes reports the site as dangerous for malware and blocks it.
As i don't want to risk it i decided to not to override the program and left.

Have a look in XDA forums, someone there might be able to help you.

Thanks Gopher7 but I've already been there.
Guess it's a no go for my mates phone as the rom simply does not exist.
Still someone on flebay will buy it .

Thanks for the info bill4676 we will try the rom tomorrow when I see my mate but I think he is resigned to the fact that the phone is bricked.
