Sim cards

Ive got a blackberry torch with unlimited net thats on o2. Ive also got a new ipad 2 contract free. If i cut the o2 sim thats in my blackberry down to a micro sim would this in theory work in the ipad2, then when using it in my phone just use a micro sim to sim adapter?

if the ipad is not locked to a different provider i cant see why that wouldnt work
