iPad 2 composite av cable problem

I purchased the cable the weekend and tried it straight away but could only get sound through my tv but no picture. I have read a few posts on apple support and they point to a 'tv out ' setting which I can't find for the life of me. I have tried this cable on 2 different tv's and also with my iPhone 4 and still no joy. Does anyone have a solution/suggestion? Thanks in advance Adam

I was the same as you, could'nt find the setting on either my ipad2 or iphone 4s, turns out the AV out only works on certain apps like youtube. I thought it would display my ipad/iphone screen on my tv screen but it doesent. just if you play a video etc.
