help with adding apps

hi there, does a ipad 2 need to be jailbroken first before you can add apps downloaded from a torrent site. i have a couple of apps i downloaded but cant find a way of adding them through my laptop.
any help would be appreciated, new to this ipad so be gentle with me .

Yes the device would need to be jailbroken and a jailbreak program called app sync is needed to sync your downloaded apps through the iTunes.
Be aware there is a program on Cydia called installous which has its own repo of apps which is identical to the app store. The apps are all free and the installous program will download then and instal them automatically without the need to use iTunes.
