Cant restore ipad mini from Iphone backup

i jsut bough a Ipad mini 2g.
already had my iphone backup copy. i restore to ipad..takes 2 min and no changes...

Have you signed into iTunes on the mini with the username and password from the iPhone?

tried everything i finally solved using a 3rd party software for backups...
