Charging is not supported with this accessory

Hi All, my Iphone 3GS is getting the message on screen saying:

Charging is not supported with this accessory

when I plug it into the PC, it cant be the cable as when I plug it into the little mains charger that came with it, it works, its not the USB on the PC as other thing work in that USB + it will sync no problem, I have also tried all the other 6 USB's on the PC and am getting the same problem

Any idea's ?

Fairly sure this is a firmware problem and there is not a lot you can do to fix it.
Sometimes restoring it will cure the problem but when you sync all your stuff from backup it will fail again. The way around that is to sync your stuff back on it manually if it initially fixed the problem

Try this first....Hold down the lock and home buttons. (Ignore the "Slide to Power Off" screen and it should turn off and restart by itself, thus solving this problem.
If you are jailbroken look for an app called popup blocker that will stop the pop up but still may not charge.
Sometimes this works...
It mostly works If you plug it in and re-spring or restart..
And also Ive heard sometimes this works... uninstall iTunes 10 and reinstall it.

They are a pain in the @rse.... Good luck... Let me know if any fix yours....

It cant be the cable, if I unplug it from the USB & plug it in the charger it charges ????

I am sorry didn't see that but did you try another computer because I had a older computer that did the same thing because it only had USB one. It might not have enough power from the USB ports to charge it but it will still sink no problem.

sounds like a problem with the power from the usb sockets to me- i have the same the problem with the fag lighter in my taxi but it charges fine with the fag lighter in my car.
they are very small voltage and mililamps too.

Ive done nothing to cable, phone or PC, I plugged it in to sync and its charging again, how strange

my phone did it without being connected, still looking for a fix pop up blocker doesn't work from cydia

anyone got a fix ?
