Also if you have antivirus on the computer make sure to disable it. I have had no problem doing mine up till a month ago I got the error and apple said it was a defective phone but after I removed the sim card and disabled my antivirus the restore went through fine.

hi thanks it gets near the end ready to boot then it gives me the 1015 error but i will try this out and see what happens thanks

That sounds like exactly what mine did and I don't know if taking the sims out helped but the virus software I think did have something to do with it. Now I do updates and even iOS upgrades without disabling the virus software but when I tried a restore I had to disable the virus software. Keep us posted I'd like to know if this did work and that I was not the only one because apple didn't know what to tell me other than replace the phone.
