Best way to update jailbroke iphone

Hi can anyone tell me the best way to upgrade my jailbroke iphone 3gs or point me to a tutorial

currenly running 4.0.1

I read a little bit but starting to get confused about baseband and stuff. Would perfer untethered version though.

Hi m8 do you need unlock ?? or just jbreak?

Your best bet is to upgrade to 4.2.1 firmware...this will give you an Untethered jailbreak plus access to all the best apps coming out of Cydia eg Celeste

I'm not sure if I unlocked it or not.....

I guess I would prefer to unlock it incase I give this to someone else at a later date.

if you rely on a unlock stick with your current firmware for now

Unlocking an iPhone to any network is dependant on your baseband. If your lucky enough to be on an unlockable baseband you must learn how to "preserve your baseband" while upgrading / downgrading firmware. Do your homework first.

Goto ultrasnow in Cydia to unlock first then it's done!,then you mIght want to look here Dev-Team Blog for a 4.2.1 jailbreak while preserving baseband

u can download snowbreeze where u can create a customer firmware whilst preserving the baseband so u can still unlock the phone with ultrasn0w

any ideas what the problem might be,,sorry for hijacking this thread but didnt want to start a new one on updating jailbroken iphone,just tried again and im now getting 1013 error,i got shsh saved and server running,got stock firmware correct,im confused as to why it wont update

Error 1013 is what your after....just jailbreak with Greenpois0n...just done recent thread on Upgrading/Downgrading check it out
