I think I messed it up.
I tried to jailbreak the iphone, but it was not turning on. So I restored the softwares using itunes, but it restored everything to :

version 4.3.3 (8J2)
modem firmware 05.16.02

is it pretty bad the fact that now I have a newer firmware ?
Can I still unlock the iphone ?
I have AT&T.
I would like to unlock the phone so that I could use it also in IT, and also I would like to be able to install cracked applications....

If you have updated the phone now you need the latest redsn0w to jailbreak.i dont need the unlock so not sure if it is possible or not.
Google redsn0w and download latest version and it tells you what to do onscreen

i would use sn0wbreeze 2.7.3 to jb now,before i would of said
sn0wbreeze 2.2, but still you couldnt of unlocked without using ipads 6:15 baseband which looses some functions such as gps! also there are slightly different instruction if on AT&T or so beware of this if unlocking.

jailbreak still available through the 2.7.3,

i would always use sn0wbreeze as appose to redsnow because it never updates baseband anymore and is more compatable with ultrasnow

I am VERY new at iphone, so I do not understand what u say.
Is there any way to NOT lose the GPS function ?

Could u pls direct me to a step by step tutprial ?

On unlocking with your baseband most people have lost gps,also you can not come down from the 6:15 fw iPads etc

Depends on whether you need unlock more,sone people are waiting for maybe an easier unlock and just jailbreaking for now in that case just run the sn0wbreeze it guides you

But you will need the stock firmware for your device also ,and know how to put your iPhone into dfu mode but snow helps u,,you have to decide which firmware you want 4.2.1/4.3.3 as to which sn0wbreeze u use
